New ADC Items Guide for Preseason 2021

A guide into the new items for ADCs for the new season of League of Legends!

The preseason for Season 11 in League of Legends is bringing about a lot of changes onto the Rift, shop-wise. With the introduction of mythic and new legendary items onto the Rift, gameplay changes drastically for every kind of champion. From mages, to assassins, to bruisers etc., they all have more tools to play with on the Rift. Marksman also have some fun new play toys to mess with, and today we’ll be looking through not only the mythic items, but also the new legendary items for marksman. Let’s begin!

Mythic Items

Galeforce

Preseason 11 Galeforce

The first item we will be covering is Galeforce, the first of three mythic items. This item grants champions 55 attack damage and 20% attack speed, with a 20% increase in their critical strike chance. For this item’s active ability, Zephyr Strike, it works like the Hextech Rocketbelt for AP users. It’s a dash in a targeted direction that fires three missiles at the lowest health enemy near the destination of the dash, naturally prioritizing champions. This deals a total of 105-300 magic damage based on your current level in the game with a 30% bonus attack damage ratio, which is increased when the missiles target low health enemies by up to 50% against the targets that have 30% or lower health. The mythic passive for this item is a 3% buff to move speed with every other legendary item you pick up.

This item works extremely well with champions that have dashes and blinks built into their kit. Vayne, Lucian and even Caitlyn benefit the most from this item because of their mobility built into their kits, allowing you to pull of some quick and unpredictable moves against your opponents on the rift. After using a dash, simply use the Galeforce to continue dashing in that direction or use it in a different direction to play mind games and avoid getting caught in CC.

Kraken Slayer

Preseason 11 Kraken Slayer

The second mythic item we will be covering is the Kraken Slayer. It grants the most attack damage and attack speed of all the mythic marksman items, 65 and 25% respectively, while keeping the 20% critical strike chance increase the other mythic items provide. This item’s ability is the simplest and easy to understand: every third attack is enhanced, dealing an additional 80-120 true damage, scaling as you level up with a 45% bonus attack damage ratio boost, and the item gives each legendary item you purchase an additional 10% attack speed.

This item is made for ADCs to become tank busters with that third true damage shot. This item works really well for champions that can work particularly well with the Press the Attack rune, as the third shot from that rune increases damage against the target, making your third attack against them hurt even more. This item works well for basically every ADC, but in particular, Vayne, Twitch and Lucian are prime candidates for this item, because of the Press the Attack rune working well with all of them.

Immortal Shieldbow

Preseason 11 Immortal Shieldbow

The final mythic item for marksman in the preseason is the Immortal Shieldbow. This item offers the lowest attack damage and attack speed, with a 50 AD increase and a 15% attack speed increase and the critical strike chance remaining the same at 20%. However, the item does offer 12% life steal, which is something the other mythic items do not. That’s in part because of this item’s ability, Lifeline. When you take damage that drops your health below 30%, you gain a shield for three seconds that can block between 250 to a whopping 700 damage, the shielding scaling as you level up. Not only that, but you also gain 15% life steal for eight seconds, giving means Shieldbow gives you a total of life steal of 27% when Lifeline is active. For the item’s mythic passive, it offers your other legendary items an additional 5 damage and 50 health, giving you an additional 200 health at full build.

This item works well when you are against team comps or against opposing champions that can burst you down quickly. The item’s Lifeline ability keeps you safe from dives from assassins and other champions that want to focus you immediately. The life steal also helps to quickly get back some of your health, but be wary that the lifeline ability has a 90 second cooldown, so choose your fights carefully, because one misstep without the shield and extra life steal could spell doom for you.

Legendary Items

Chempunk Chainsword

Preseason 11 Chempunk Chainsword

Now we move onto the legendary items geared for the ADCs of the Rift and we start off with a different option to the Mortal Reminder we know and love to use. The Chempunk Chainsword offers 45 attack damage and 200 health, with 15 ability haste. The passive, Hackshorn, basically does the same as the Mortal Reminder, offering 40% Grievous Wounds when damaging a champion. However, the second part of the passive is much different. While Mortal Reminder requires you to attack a target three times for two seconds to bump the grievous wounds affect to 60%, the Hackshorn automatically does that if the target is below 50% health.

This item doesn’t offer attack speed, critical strike boost, or a boost in movement speed, but it does grant you more health and ability haste, something that the Mortal Reminder doesn’t. The Chempunk Chainsword serves well as an alternate item to keep in mind when you have to deal with a healing focused team composition on the other side of the rift. Caitlyn and Draven are both champions that can use this item well, since they have strong base damage and even Vayne can put this item to good use. For the most part though, keep this item off your main list of items to build unless it is necessary.

Navori Quickblades

Preseason 11 Navori Quickblades

The second new legendary item we’ll be discussing is the Navori Quickblades. This new item gives champions 60 attack damage with a 20% critical strike chance and 30 ability haste. The passive, Deft Strikes, puts an emphasis on cooldowns, as the critical strikes you deal will reduce the non-ultimate ability cooldowns you have in your arsenal by 20% of the remaining cooldown left, meaning that the high your critical strike is, the quicker you can get back some of your abilities.

This item works well for those ADCs that require the use of their abilities quite often in order to function properly. Champions like Xayah and Varus can use this item really well, in Xayah’s case because it will allow her to use her abilities and toss more feathers out and the more feathers she has on the field, the better. In Varus’ case, it would allow him to toss out his Q more often, giving him more frequent, long-range poke. Lucian can also go to town with this item if you build lots of crit items with him, as the cooldowns on his kit will allow him to use his passive as frequently as possible. Even Yasuo ADC, or Yasuo in general, benefits from this a lot with his passive of doubling critical strike chances, giving him super-fast Windwall cooldowns.

The Collector

Preseason 11 The Collector

The final legendary item for ADCs for the newest season of League is The Collector. The Collector is a unique item for ADCs as it offers something that is akin to Pyke’s ultimate and even the Elder Dragon to a miniscule degree. The item offers 45 attack damage and 20% critical strike chance, basic ADC stats, but also offers 18 Lethality, something that most ADC items do not really offer. The passive for this item, Death and Taxes, is why I compared it to Pyke and the Elder earlier. When you deal damage that will bring your targeted enemy below 5% health, it executes them. When you use this against a champion instead of a minion, you get an additional 25 gold.

This item works for those ADCs that have good damage output and can easily target the squishier enemies on the enemy team. So preferably, you’d want a slightly longer ranged ADC, like Caitlyn with this item, as her damage and range is near unmatched on the rift. Miss Fortune is a good choice too and, while her range is not as close to as good as Cait’s, her ultimate and her other abilities, particularly Double Up and Make It Rain make up for that with the raw damage they can produce when taking out a target.

Conclusion

These new items, like most new items being brought into the game in this new preseason, will change the way people will want to build their champions. Build them to be tank busters, survivors, or go straight for the damage. There is a build out there for every kind of play style out there and it will be interesting to see how these items will change the bot lane moving forward. Good luck and see you on the Rift summoners!
