8 Most Expensive Skins in League of Legends (Ranked)

Read on to find out which expensive skins in League of Legends are worth your buck!

Everyone deserves to have a “treat yourself” pamper session — yep, even the Yasuo main who just went 0/10 in your ranked game. While some players prefer to treat themselves with a new ward icon or chroma, others like to go all out by buying the bougiest, flashiest skins Riot has to offer.

And since you’ve landed on this article? I think it’s safe to assume you’re the latter kind of player. Well, I won’t waste any more of your time. You’re here to find out which expensive skins in League of Legends are worth your buck.

I’ve ranked them below, considering their splash arts, animations, character model designs, and most importantly, whether their quality matches up to their high price tags.

8. Dunkmaster Darius

Cost: 1820 RP Skin

Tier: Legendary

I’ll dunk things off with a “budget-friendly” bougie skin. And by that, I mean a legendary skin that feels like it should be an ultimate skin with the amount of fun, quality, and all-round badassery it offers.

From the ingenious character model concept to the hilarious voice lines, this skin truly encapsulates exactly who Darius is at heart. It also boasts one of the best ult animations in the whole game. To top it off, it even comes with a suitable “pay2win” perk; it’s sure to tilt your opponent and give you a mental advantage from the get-go.

7. Fallen God-King Garen and Divine God-King Darius (Mythic Variants)

Cost: 1% drop rate from a 750 RP capsule (or 30 event capsules)

Skin Tier: Mythic Variant

The new Garen and Darius Mythic variants are undeniably some of the most expensive skins in LoL. To unlock them, you need to buy event capsules and partake in a “gacha” style system, with each skin having an abysmal 1% drop rate. While it’s certainly possible to get lucky and unlock one of these skins immediately, chances are, you’ll have to rely on Riot’s 30-capsule guarantee to secure them.

And the price of 30 capsules?

$200. Yeah. Not for the fainthearted.

Now, while I absolutely adore these Mythic variants — they’re both insanely badass and elevate the original skins — I can’t rank them any higher than this. They are essentially just glorified chromas and definitely aren’t worth the extortionate price tag. Sorry Riot.

6. DJ Sona

Cost: 3250 RP

Skin Tier: Ultimate

Yep, I’m not forgetting the classics!

DJ Sona may be a decade old, but it still remains one of the best skins in the game. For the sweet price of 3250 RP, you’ll be able to turn every single match into your own personal disco and groove it out to the sweet notes of your enemies' screams. Pure musical bliss.

5. Elementalist Lux

Cost: 3250 RP

Skin Tier: Ultimate

Can’t decide which skin to equip? Well hey, with Elementalist Lux, you don’t have to! This ultimate skin features a unique mechanic that allows you to rotate between several different skin styles within a single game.

Each style is (unsurprisingly) inspired by an element and features a unique color palette and gorgeous design. The animations are also top-tier, with every attack feeling effortless.

4. Pulsefire Ezreal

Cost: 3250 RP

Skin Tier: Ultimate

Pulsefire Ezreal transports you to a whole other dimension — literally. The skin is packed full of sci-fi-inspired animations, sound effects, and visual details. It also features a cyborg-esque transformation mechanic that allows you to visually see yourself becoming empowered as you rack up those sweet, sweet kills.

The overall concept is downright stunning and will definitely please the heart of any ADC main out there (provided you can afford the extortionate 3250 RP price).

3. Prestige True Damage Qiyana

Cost: 100 to 200 Mythic Essence, depending on rotation

Skin Tier: Prestige

Right. We’re finally getting to the “should I really be spending this amount of money” skins! Prestige True Damage Qiyana screams luxury all over it… And for good reason — the skin was designed by world-renowned fashion house Louis Vuitton.

Qiyana’s blade is now sporting the iconic LV design, and the attack animations have a luxe feel that very few skins can match. While the blatant marketing won’t please everyone, it’s perfect for those who want to experience “LV style” luxury at a fraction of the price of an IRL LV bag.

2. Prestige Duality Dragon Volibear

Cost: 100 to 200 Mythic Essence, depending on rotation

Skin Tier: Prestige

The standard Duality Dragon Volibear skin is nothing to write home about, but the Prestige skin is a whole other matter. It truly elevates the base skin and gives it a glow-up that is worth every single penny!

From the slick and visually explosive animations to the Norse-inspired design elements, everything about this skin makes you feel like an unstoppable, majestic beast. Which is, ya know, exactly how you’re supposed to feel when you lock in Volibear.

1. Signature Ahri Collection Skin

Cost: 59,260 RP (Signature collection)

Skin Tier: Signature

Okay. There are technically three different collection tiers, each being incredibly expensive, but today I’ll be focusing on the most expensive of them all: the Signature Immortalized Legend Ahri collection.

If you’re not familiar, the Signature Ahri collection was essentially designed to honor Faker and his legacy as a pro player. It was released as a part of the Hall of Legends event, among two other collections. Each collection gives players an exclusive Faker-themed Ahri skin, with the most expensive being the Signature Ahri Collection.

For the price of 59,260 RP — yes, that isn’t a typo – you’ll be rewarded with an Ahri skin that’s packed full of Faker tributes, including an animation depicting his signature move and a special finisher that showcases his autograph.

Oh, and you’ll also gain the ability to flex on every other player in your ranked games. I mean, if you’re willing to spend that amount of money on a skin? You earned that right fair and square.

All in all, this skin is 100% a cash grab. However, I’m a diehard Faker fan and it does give Ahri a Worlds-worthy makeover. So, with that in mind, I’m allowing it to stay at the number one spot. But if you’re of sane mind? This skin would definitely stay at the 8th spot.

Thanking the Whales in LoL

While I would never encourage someone to spend hundreds of dollars on a single game skin, I do have gratitude for those who have the courage and means to do so. Those whales are keeping the game afloat for the rest of us commoners. If you’re one of those whales, thank you for your service.
