A Guide on Exotic Weapons in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3

With so many guns being added and removed each season, players have to learn to adapt their loadout for maximum performance. Exotic weapons are no doubt included in this but are often not used as much as other rarities. If you are looking for a new type of weapon to use, this guide will teach you everything you need to know about Exotic weapons in Fortnite.

Exotic Weapons make up a small percentage of weapons in the game. There have only been 16 in existence, being one of the rarest types in the game’s history. Having one of these can be super beneficial to your loadout however and change battles to be in your favor. In this article, we will break down what makes an Exotic Weapon and where to find them.

What are Exotic Weapons?

An Exotic Weapon is just one of the different item rarities in Fortnite, having a light blue color as a background. As mentioned before, not many weapons fall under this category which makes them unique. What makes them even more rare, only a few of them are available at a time.

In a general sense, Exotic Weapons are based off of an existing gun. All of the stats will be the same as the Legendary variant. However, being different wouldn’t make sense if there isn’t a bonus, so all of these weapons have an added attribute to make them even more powerful than they already are.

How to Obtain Exotic Weapons?

Now that we have a basic understanding of what Exotic Weapons do, how exactly do we get a hold of them? It might be a bit deceiving on the surface with only a few of them around the map, but it isn’t really that hard!

The most reliable way to obtain Exotic Weapons is to straight up buy them from NPCs. Around the map you will come across some friendly NPCs that are willing to sell you some items in exchange for gold. That means if you want an Exotic Weapon, you need the Gold for them. You get Gold Bars from eliminating enemies, treasure chests, and bounties so it doesn’t take much even if you are just passively playing the game. I will now go over each individual Exotic Weapon available in Chapter 3, Season 3.

Shadow Tracker

To find the Shadow Tracker, head over to The Temple near The Daily Bugle during the daytime. There you will find the Sunbird NPC selling it for 400 Gold Bars.

This gun is an advanced version of the Suppressed Pistol. Shooting an enemy with the Shadow Tracker will mark them for a short period of time giving their exact location to you and your teammates. It’s a fun little weapon that can be handy at times!

Marksman Six Shooter

You can find the Marksman Six Shooter at the newly added Rave Cave. It will be available from the Cuddle Team Leader NPC for 400 Gold Bars.

This is the better version of the Revolver. It is capable of high, quick damage from short to mid-ranged fights. The Exotic bonus adds two different firing settings. You can aim down sights for more accurate but slower shots, or you can hipfire for faster but less accurate shots.

The Dub

The Dub will be located at the Joneses. One thing to keep in mind, the Joneses has four different NPC spawns: Jonesy the First, Ludwig, Bunker Jonesy, and Mullet Marauder. If you want The Dub, you are going to have to talk to Jonesy the First and Ludwig where they will be selling it for 600 Gold Bars.

The Dub is an Exotic variant of the Double-Barrel Shotgun making it the first and only Exotic Shotgun. Alone, it deals immensely high damage from close-range. The bonus adds a knockback feature which can be used in so many ways. Try to have some fun with this weapon because your enemies surely won’t!

Boom Sniper Rifle

You can get the Boom Sniper Rifle from The Visitor NPC located on The Launchpad, where the biggest island near The Daily Bugle is at.

For only 600 Gold Bars, you can have a seriously overpowered Sniper Rifle. Inspired off of the Heavy Sniper Rifle, an already popular gun, this Exotic variant kicks up the coolness by a large margin. While the Heavy Sniper Rifle uses standard heavy ammo, the Boom Sniper Rifle fires bullets that give it its name. This gun shoots clinging bullets that explode shortly after it lands. That means the enemy is stuck with this ticking time bomb unless they emote to remove it, but most times fail. To make things even better, rather than having one bullet per magazine like the Heavy Sniper Rifle, it contains five. This Sniper Rifle can be one of the best guns in the game if used efficiently due to the high damage from both the bullet and the explosion.

Chug Cannon

The Chug Cannon can be found at Washout Wharf just north of Logjam Lumberyard/Lotus where Kyle will be selling it to you for 600 Gold Bars. It is the most unique of all the Exotic Weapons partly due to it not being an actual gun to kill players with.

Instead, it is a reimagined version of the Bandaged Bazooka. Similarly like the Bandaged Bazooka, it can be fired at the ground or at your teammates for a quick heal of 15 health. The difference is that instead of requiring bandages, it has unlimited ammo with the downside being that you must wait 20 seconds between each splash. You can also fire this cannon at the ground, and it will have an area of effect if you want to heal more than one person. If you are looking for a more precise shot, thankfully this Exotic weapon includes aim assist unlike its lesser variants. Be mindful however, this weapon takes up two inventory slots.

Conclusion

Exotic weapons are a powerful and fun way to diversify your loadout. They aren’t hard to acquire and provide a unique addition to a weapon. By using these five guns, you can turn the tide to your favor in a fight, but with every season and chapter, comes a different set of Exotic weapons so always be on the lookout for more!
