A step-by-step guide on how to open Fortnite's Jungle Temple Vaults

The Jungle Temple Vaults are one of the best ways to get top-tier loot right away in Fortnite, but the process of opening these vaults is still very complicated and confusing. This guide will outline the four main temple vaults and specific instructions on how to open each one (with images!)

In every season of Fortnite, players are always looking for the best way to get early game loot as fast as possible. In previous seasons, POIs with vaults have historically been a high area of contention. However, Chapter 4’s implementation of vaults has the keycard NPC spawning in the second zone, slowing the pace down of players who want to loot quickly.

Fortunately, an alternative to these vaults are the Temple Vaults, which are found all over the new Jungle biome. These vaults not only contain large amounts of standard floor loot and chests, but have a dedicated vault room with 4-10 chests depending on the size of the temple, with 2-4 guaranteed legendary chests. Additionally, these vaults typically have Ruin Statues that can spawn a rift, resulting in fast rotations onto players with lesser loot.

Temple Locations

There are four large Temple Vaults scattered around the Jungle biome. Each vault has a slightly different configuration and is vastly spread out. Depending on your playstyle and the rotations you want to make, you can consider different temples to drop at.

South Temple

The southernmost Temple Vault is relatively simple to open. Thefirst step is the most difficult and involves finding an item of Epic, Legendary, or Mythic rarity and sacrificing it to the door. Because this vault is relatively isolated, it might take some looting before finding a suitable item. A recommended strategy is to land at a nearby spot to increase the chance of finding one of these items:

Some items that can be used to open the vault include Shockwave Grenades, Explosive Boomerangs, and Thermal Floppers. When entering the temple from the north side, the staircase to get to the door will be on the left-hand side. Following this, you need to hold your item while interacting with the door to get it open.

The second step involves going up around the temple to find a certain combination of flames that are on/off. This is a recurring aspect of temples, which we will call flame puzzles. In each temple, there is a room containing flames that can be turned on and off through interaction. To find the correct combination of flames, there are reference flames that are found throughout other rooms of the temple.

In this specific temple, there are four reference flames in each corner of the top floor, and one in the middle of the ground floor.

Once you have remembered the state of each flame, you can head back down into the room that you came from and change the flames to match the ones on the top floor. In this temple, the flame above ground directly corresponds with the same flame on the bottom (northwest top = northwest bottom, middle = middle, etc.)

The following room contains two statues that can be interacted with. Once again, this is a recurring puzzle, which will be referred to as the statue puzzle. There is not much strategy to this puzzle, and the only way to determine the correct statue is to try all of them. In solos, this can be slightly tedious, but you can activate multiple statues at the same time in team modes.

The correct statue will open the door, and that’s all of the south temple!

Creeky Compound Temple

The next temple is positioned north of Creeky Compound, nested in the side of a cliff. To start this temple off, we have a locked door requiring an item of Epic rarity. Luckily, there is a strategy that leads you to a Legendary Chest, granting you a guaranteed Epic or Legendary item. Simply break through the leftmost wall before proceeding into the middle of the temple.

Proceed down the hallway all the way until you enter a room with rubble breaking through the right wall:

This room has a legendary chest, which gives you a guaranteed item for you to open the first door. Additionally, it has the reference flames for this temple’s flame puzzle. This temple has one flame in each corner of the room, which corresponds with the flames in the final room.

There is one additional difficulty with this temple, where there is a secondary door that takes only Legendary or Mythic items. This door will be slightly harder to activate if you do not find a Legendary item in the first chest. However, the surrounding loot around the temple will likely let you find at least one item of this tier, such as a Thermal Flopper, Cybertron Cannon, or the new Fry’s Ray Gun.

After this room, simply input the correct combination of flames, and the final door will open!

Rumble Ruins Temple

This is the most straightforward temple to open but perhaps poses the biggest risk. This temple sits right in the center of Rumble Ruins, a largely contested POI on the map. There are many tunnels that lead to this vault, and it lies west of the large area at the bottom of the temple.

This vault simply requires one Epic or higher rarity item to open, which can be found by looting the various other areas of the temple. There are no additional puzzles, so get your loot quickly before enemies come!

Northside Temple

The final temple resides on the northmost edge of the jungle. This temple is the most tedious to open, with a combination of an Epic-rarity door, a flame puzzle, and a statue puzzle. To help find a suitable item quickly, there are two chests above the main entrance, in addition to various loot spawns around the temple.

Once you enter the temple, you will follow the left set of stairs until you see a hole in the floor below another set of stairs.

There will be a room in the southern direction when you drop down that contains the reference flames to enter the loot room. The flames take a pattern of one on each side, with the west side having two flames. The final room will also have two flames on the west side of the room, with the remaining flames on the corresponding sides.

The next step is to go back to the main entrance of the temple and go the same path as before. This time, go up the flight of stairs instead of the hole. Turn left to find another flight of stairs, which will lead you to the statue puzzle. Unfortunately, this room has four statues, with only one correct answer. Since incorrect answers rift you above the temple, this may be tedious without teammates.

Once you follow through the path after finishing the temple puzzle, you should find one final room containing the flame puzzle.

After you input the flames, the door will open up, leading you to the loot room.

Conclusion

The temple vaults are an excellent way to get loot quickly into the early game. With this guide and a bit of practice, you’ll be able to crack through these vaults and get the early loot advantage!
