A Useful Utility Guide For Bombsite B on Overpass

A tried and true attack method for the B Bombsite of Overpass, containing five different utility lineups.

The canals and sewers of de_overpass have provided CS:GO players with countless rounds of gameplay. As a Terrorist seeking to attack the stalled weapons shipment in CT Spawn, you of course have two options, and today we’re focusing on the B Bombsite. There are so many different ways to attack the bombsites on Overpass, but far too often we see players going in without fully utilizing their grenades, and essentially giving rounds to the Counter-Terrorists. With these smokes and molotovs, you’ll be able to change things up and allow for better post-plant situations.

Smoke One: Bridge

The Bridge provides a wide opening allowing for several angles that Counter-Terrorists can defend from. There are a number of ways to smoke off this angle, but many of them must be thrown from much closer to the bombsite. This smoke is thrown from Terrorist Spawn, which makes it possible for a different offensive strategy, including a number of different fakes. Simply approach this “One Up” graffiti and align yourself as shown. Aim for the side of the tower I show, and give it a jump-throw.

It comes in pretty quickly and lands just about in the center of the Bridge, entirely blocking off the view as you cross into the B Bombsite. This smoke is a great way to help you get to the safest plant spot, but it doesn’t allow access to the entire site by itself. Pair it with this next smoke to enable more freedom to take the middle of the bombsite and make it a bit easier to defend in the post-plant.

Smoke Two: Middle of Site

By planting in the safe spot on the B Bombsite, your post-plant positions become very restricted. Only a few angles provide Terrorists with the vision they need to defend the bomb from being defused. This smoke, which is also thrown from just outside Terrorist Spawn, blocks off the vision of the middle of the bombsite from any Counter-Terrorists playing Graffiti or Walkway, as well as part of Heaven. Again, this smoke could be great to throw in a fake situation as well. To throw it, jam yourself into this corner near the chairs outside the nightclub. Aim as shown, and give it a basic jump-throw.

By planting more open, you enable the potential for playing from so many more positions in the post-plant. Regardless, these two smokes will not be enough to waltz into the bombsite. The third and final smoke I suggest for this take will land significantly higher than the previous two.

Smoke Three: Heaven

Realistically, players coming in from Construction/Sandbags would probably be fine most of the time coming in to get the plant with just those two smokes, but any Monster players would be massively exposed to Heaven, so this is definitely something I would really prioritize when taking the site. There are many different ways to smoke Heaven as Terrorists on Overpass. While a couple of options exist from T Spawn, realistically you probably don’t want 3 of your players back in Spawn while only 2 are up close, ready to enter a bombsite. For that reason, I’ve elected to show you one of the most common lineups. This one is just outside of Connector. Push up into the corner next to the barcode graffiti, look for the corner of the pillar as shown, and simply left-click throw the smoke.

This leaves no gaps for any Counter-Terrorists to peek through, and makes it significantly easier to enter the bombsite. The image below provides an idea of how the three smokes will look when all thrown together.

These smokes are great, but you’re probably going to do even better with these two molotov lineups I’m showing next.

Molotov One: Barrels

Barrels is always a tough position to clear with just guns. The head should be the only thing visible to a Terrorist entering from Monster, providing a real advantage to the Counter-Terrorist. But this easy molotov with a forgiving lineup completely negates that position, and if timed well, forces the Counter-Terrorist out into the open making them a free kill for your teammates bursting onto the bombsite. Stand as shown outside of Connector, and perform this running throw. No pressure on getting the timing exactly as I do, as this one is super generous to the Terrorist who throws it. Something awesome about this lineup is that you can immediately follow up, or even preface your molotov with an HE to really stack on your damage to the unlucky Counter-Terrorist who is playing at Barrels.

Of course, you’ll likely be coming in from the Construction area past Sandbags after throwing that molotov, and the same goes for the one I’ll be showing you next. Headshot is a terribly annoying spot to fight as well, so this upcoming molotov is another super useful one to toss.

Molotov Two: Headshot

Again, we’re just outside of Connector and doing a running throw. This one is definitely a bit trickier than the last one, so I’d suggest testing this out a few times by yourself before bringing it out in a real game and expecting to hit it first try. It can explode midair if you mess up the timing, which would really be problematic for any teammates who are expecting that position to be clear.

Once you’ve got this down, it makes for a perfect duo with the Barrels molotov, as any CT who was there likely will have to run through not only one, but both of these molotovs before getting to hiding, if they are so lucky to make it that far before the combination of bullets and bullets take them out of the round. Unless they run out into the open, they basically have nowhere else to go other than Pit, so if you find little to no resistance as you enter the bombsite, expect CTs to be hiding there.

All in all, these lineups are fairly easy to grasp, yet provide so much utility. Sometimes, keeping it simple is really the way to go, and in this case on the B Bombsite of Overpass, I think this approach is extremely effective. Taking a fairly common concept and adding a bit of flair to change up timings and allow more potential fakes is a great strategy on any bombsite on any map. Give these smokes and molotovs a try, and hopefully they help you bag a few rounds. If you’re interested in some other guides I’ve created, check out all of my other articles here. I’ve got things ranging from smokes designed for a solo-queue on Train to fresh boosts spots on Mirage. Best of luck using these ideas in your matches!
