Marvel Rivals spoils its players with its plethora of costumes. From comic-accurate depictions to a game-exclusive look, fans have so many skins they can get to represent their favorite characters. Unfortunately, many of these costumes aren’t sticking around forever. They can suddenly drop out of the shop or even disappear after its limited-time event.
In this article, we’ll take a look at all the limited-time Marvel Rivals costumes. Take a look back at some of the expired costumes and how they were acquired. If the costume you were looking for is in this article, then you can only hope the developers bring them back sometime in the future.
Limited & Expired
The Limited and Expired costumes will include every skin that was removed from the shop, acquired through drops, obtained with codes, and gained through the Battle Pass.
As of now, Marvel Rivals has removed two skins from the store outside of limited-time events: Galactic Talon Captain America and Galactic Fangs Hawkeye.
These costumes are exclusive to Marvel Rivals, featuring a black and gold suit for Captain America and a futuristic purple suit for Hawkeye. The developers have not stated their reasons for removing these skins and whether or not they’ll rotate out more costumes in the future.
Aside from that, Marvel Rivals actively partners with streamers and content creators to reward drops and costumes. Two costumes were handed out this way, and if you don’t have them, then you missed the chance.
These are Magneto and Hela’s Will of Galacta costumes, recoloring their base skins to purple. It looks great on the Master of Magnetism as the color closely resembles his iconic color palette.
As for codes, Marvel Rivals has given out one code to redeem a skin: Iron Man’s Armor Model 42. The sleek black and gold model first appears in Iron Man (2012) #1 written by Kieron Gillen. The code expired on March 5, 2025, and players hope that more will follow.
Additionally, every Battle Pass has an expiration date on when you can purchase it. Fortunately, Marvel Rivals took a page from Helldivers 2 and allows players to complete the track on their own time, regardless of the season.
So, if you weren’t around to purchase the Season 0 Battle Pass then these costumes are locked out of your account. These costumes are Galactic Wings Mantis, God of Magic Doctor Strange, Empress of the Cosmos Hela, Galactic Claw Black Panther, and Thunderbolts Punisher, based on his appearance in Thunderbolts (2012) #1.
Closed Alpha and Beta Skins
Marvel Rivals had its first alpha playtest that lasted ten days in May 2024. A closed beta would follow soon after from July to early August for both consoles and PC. Players who participated in these early playtests received rewards like an exclusive title and playable skins that were permanently added to their costume collection.
Alpha playtesters were treated to the White Witch costume for Scarlet Witch, making this the rarest skin in Marvel Rivals. The costume is based on her appearance inX-Men: The Trial of Magneto (2021) #4, giving her white hair to match her pale coat, while keeping her iconic red crown.
Players who were around during the closed beta received the Cyan Clash Venom skin, an exclusive look for the Lethal Protector in Marvel Rivals. The skin changes Venom’s body to light blue and keeps the white on their menacing eyes and symbol.
Three skins were included during the beta but weren’t released when Marvel Rivals launched in December. There’s no official word on why they were deemed unfit for launch and when they’ll come to the game. But fans can rest easy knowing that they’ll be in the game sometime in the future, like with Rocket Raccoon’s 1872: Bounty Hunter skin that was added to the Season 1 Battle Pass.
The first skin is Loki’s Presidential Attire. Based on the 2016 comic Vote Loki, the costume gives the God of Mischief a sleek pompous green suit and a presidential candidate pin. There’s also 1872: Steam Power Iron-Man, a brown steampunk-inspired suit based on the 1872 comic.
Finally, there’s Spider-Man’s 2099: Spider-Punk costume. The rebellious look is Marvel Rival’s take on a Hobie Brown-inspired costume, giving the Wall Crawler a dangerously spiky mohawk and dark jacket. What stands out the most is the black helmet adorned with a neon spider symbol.
These leftover skins all look amazing, and it’s up to NetEase on when to drop them.
Seasonal Events
Marvel Rivals has provided their players with a steady stream of seasonal festivals and narrative events, where the rewards for participating often include currency, collectibles, and playable skins. The missions are usually non-intrusive and players can work on them seamlessly while playing their preferred game mode.
Additionally, the festive skins come with themed costumes that were purchasable on the shop. Marvel Rivals has pushed out the Winter Celebration as their first festival event, featuring five winter-themed costumes that were available during the event.
Jeff the Landshark’s Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume was the free skin awarded to players who gained enough points in Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival. The Splatoon-inspired game mode served as a successful blueprint for incentivizing players to earn a free skin through engaging with these fun game modes.
The four skins were available in the shop: Wild Winter Rocket Raccoon, Holiday Happiness Groot, Snow Symbiote Venom, and Frozen Demon Magik. All five of these skins are unavailable to acquire at the moment. Hopefully, they’ll be up for grabs again during winter along with any new skins for the season.
Similarly, the Fortune & Colors event celebrated the Lunar New Year, dropping traditional Chinese-themed skins along with a Rocket League-inspired game mode called Clashing Lions. Playing through the 3v3 football game mode rewards players with the Lion’s Mane Star-Lord. It should be noted that players can still progress towards the skin in normal games by completing missions.
For this collection, Iron Fist received the Lion’s Gaze costume, donning him in a regal yellow and a festive dragon head. Black Widow has a similar theme with Lion’s Heartbeat skin, flaunting oversized goggles and an orange dress.
Events & Challenges
For these costumes, we’ll look at the limited and expired skins earned through narrative events and competitive challenges. The costumes earned through achievements like Storm’s Ivory Breeze are excluded here as they don’t have an expiration date (yet).
Marvel Rivals has an ongoing story told seamlessly through lore cards, maps, Battle Pass, and narrative events. There were three narrative events (five if you count the two festive game modes) that rewarded players with a costume for completing their tasks.
The Midnight Features Season 1 Event rewarded players with Thor’s Reborn from Ragnarok costume. The skin first appears in Thor (2007) #1, and it’s a treat for fans who prefer the Asgardian’s classic look.
Following up on the event is the Midnight Features II Season 1 Event, continuing the investigations of the heroes on Dracula’s Eternal Night. Players who complete the event get Groot’s Carved Traveler costume, first seen in Rocket Raccoon & Groot (2016) #1.
One incentive to reach gold in ranked mode is the skin given after each competitive season. The best part is that players don’t need to retain the rank; reaching it once is enough to qualify them for the skin.
Moon Knight’s Golden Moonlight costume was given to players who reached gold in Season 0. This costume flips the normally white costume into a darker tone. For Season 1, players will get Invisible Woman’s Blood Shield and Human Torch’s Blood Blaze, changing the Fantastic Four sibling’s costume to predominantly black and red.
