Battlefield 6 Unlocked Class Setups - How to Dominate the Battlefield

Battlefield 6’s Open Beta gave us stim-rushing Assaults, unkillable tank Engineers, rooftop Recon spawns, and Support players turning defibs into melee weapons. We turned the chaos into a class setup guide with the best loadouts & optimizations for each role.

Battlefield 6’s first Open Beta has come to a close. Battlefield Studios opted to restrict plenty of content including maps, weaponry, class-specific skills, and gadgets. There is a lot yet to be discovered about this game, but two things stood out in the Open Beta.

The first is that the game feels more similar to the Battlefield 3 and 4 era. Combat, explosive moments, and hilarious interactions gave me the same energy as Battlefield 4 (minus the scale, as maps were considerably smaller). The second takeaway was from the induction of unlocked weapons playlists. There is more creativity than ever available to you in Battlefield 6. Setting up the right loadout for the right playstyle can turn a decent match into a string of highlight-reel plays.

In this guide, we’re going to break down the gear combinations that will let you dominate the battlefield, no matter your preferred style. Each class has an identity, but within that role there’s room to customize your loadout to match how you want to play.

Assault

Overview:
The Assault class is pure momentum. With Soft-Landing to reduce fall damage and Adrenaline Stim to give bursts of speed and regen, Assault soldiers thrive on staying in constant motion. They excel in flanks, room-clearing, and frontline chaos.

Playstyle & Setup:
Think of Assault as the class that turns verticality and aggression into a weapon. You’re meant to keep moving, abuse rooftops and windows, and force defenders to react to you. In close-quarters maps, a stimmed Assault flying through a window is one of the most terrifying things to face.

Loadout Recommendations

Primary Weapons

  • Shotguns (Flechette Rounds): In Beta, these were unmatched up close. Flechettes give tighter spread, letting you delete enemies in one blast.
  • SMGs (Extended Mags & Laser Sights): Best fallback once shotguns inevitably get nerfed. Extended mags let you wipe multiple enemies before reloading, while lasers boost hip-fire for frantic pushes.
  • Sniper Rifles (Built for Quickscoping): Assault's unique ability to equip two primary weapons and empowered movement make it ideal for highlight players that like to Quickscope.

Gadgets

  • Adrenaline Stim: Core to Assault identity. Use it to win duels or escape after a kill.
  • Thermobaric Grenade Launcher: The best Partner for clearing buildings or enabling a multi-kill flanks. Slows, damages, and kills your enemies.

Attachments & Perks

  • Prioritize quick ADS optics (Reflex or Holo).
  • Focus on hipfire accuracy with Lasers.
  • For snipers focus on Movement and ADS speed.
  • Pro Tip: Chain Soft-Landing drops into Stim pushes. Drop from a roof, land behind cover, Stim sprint, and you’ll appear in places enemies never expect. You also have access to a Secondary Primary weapon which can make opting for the movement boost of smaller mag’s incredibly useful.

Recon

Overview:
Recon is both the eyes and the trigger finger of your squad. With Enhanced ADS Spotting to automatically ping enemies and the Spawn Beacon for respawn control, Recon dictates positioning as much as they rack up headshots.

Playstyle & Setup:
Recon can be played traditionally (sniper nests, overwatch), but BF6’s gadgets open up aggressive variations. Beta showed that Recon could either dominate from rooftops or dive into mid-range fights, depending on loadout. The biggest strength isn’t just killing from distance — it’s warping spawn points and forcing the enemy to fight on your terms.

Loadout Recommendations

Primary Weapons

  • Bolt-Action Snipers (High-Magnification Optics): Classic overwatch play. Focus on headshots to deny revives.
  • DMRs/Semi-Auto Snipers (Medium Optics): For aggressive Recon who want flexibility in mid-range.
  • Shotguns (Flechette): For those who like to setup flanks with their Spawn Beacon there is currently no greater threat than Shotguns to wreak havoc on the backlines.

Gadgets

  • Spawn Beacon: Always useful for squad flanks. Place on rooftops, alleys, or hidden corners.
  • C4: Whether dealing with a tank or tossing C4 over a wall there are plenty of flexible uses for how powerful C4 is.
  • Motion Sensor: Great for holding down a building or to avoid being flanked.

Attachments & Perks

  • Stabilizers and Extended Breath Hold perks make sniping smoother.
  • Prioritize bipods for semi-auto snipers if you play prone.
  • Pro Tip: Treat your Spawn Beacon as an offensive weapon. Drop it deep behind enemy lines and you’ve just opened a second front that can collapse objectives in minutes.

Engineer

Overview:
Engineers are the armored fist of BF6. With Vehicle Armor Bonus and access to the Repair Tool and RPGs, they are both tank drivers and tank killers. A squad with a good Engineer controls the flow of vehicle warfare.

Playstyle & Setup:
Engineers are at their best when vehicles are in play. Tanks become rolling fortresses when you can repair mid-fight, while helicopters benefit from reduced incoming damage and quick fixes between strafes. Engineers also double as demolition experts — hopping out with an RPG to finish off enemy armor or ambush vehicles.

Loadout Recommendations

Primary Weapons

  • SMGs: Quick handling for infantry clearing near objectives.
  • Shotguns: Effective for defending vehicles from infantry saboteurs.

Gadgets

  • Repair Tool: Core to Engineer. Repair friendlies or use it offensively to burn enemy vehicles.
  • RPG Launcher: For tank duels or anti-air if guided variants are included at launch.
  • SLM-931A: On larger maps, this is a necessity for dealing with Helis and Jets. A good jet pilot can rack up 50+ kills in a match so don’t let them go unpunished.

Attachments & Perks

  • Prioritize a hip fire setup for your Shotgun or SMG, as you’ll likely have to fire immediately after exiting your tank.
  • Pro Tip: Vehicle dueling is all about timing. Exit your tank during reload cycles, hit the enemy with an RPG, then repair your own. A single Engineer can decide a 1v1 tank fight.

Support

Overview:
Support is the glue that holds squads together. With the Rescue Vest perk for faster revives and access to Supply Bags, Deployable Cover, and Defibrillators, Support makes pushes sustainable and chokepoints survivable.

Playstyle & Setup:
Support thrives when embedded with teammates. They are the class that lets squads grind through meat grinders, keeping ammo and health flowing. But BF6 also made Support fun in an unexpected way: the Defib Charge. Sprinting and pre-charging defibrillators lets Support assassinate enemies in hilarious (and highly effective) melee bursts. If you haven’t seen the madness, watch this clip.

Loadout Recommendations

Primary Weapons

  • LMGs (Extended Belts & Bipods): Perfect for locking down lanes and suppressing pushes.
  • ARs (Holo Sight & Angled Grip): Flexible choice if you want to move with the frontline.
  • DMRs: This is if you’re planning to play in a recon squad. Great for finishing off spotted/hurt opponents.

Gadgets

  • Defibrillators: Core gadget for revives — and lethal melee attacks.
  • Supply Bag: Resupplies ammo and heals, a must for choke point fights.
  • Deployable Cover: Excellent for sniper nests or holding exposed ground.

Attachments & Perks

  • Focus on stability — your role is to keep firing and suppressing chokepoints.
  • Pro Tip: Don’t underestimate offensive defibs. In Beta, sprint-charged defib hits were instant kills, letting you ambush enemies at speed with one of the most satisfying melee mechanics in Battlefield. A second tip is to use a Support or two as members in a Recon Squad. You can make Sniper nests harder to disrupt with the Deployable Cover and can quickly revive fallen members.

Conclusion: Crafting Your Battlefield Identity

Battlefield 6’s unlocked class system is already showing layers of depth that we haven’t seen in years. What makes it stand out isn’t just that each class has its own obvious battlefield role — it’s that within those roles there’s space for creativity, adaptation, and even a little chaos.

When you sprint across the map as Assault, stim pumping through your veins, and slam into a squad from above, you’re not just another soldier — you’re a thorn in the side of your opponent. When Recon drops a spawn beacon on a rooftop and a whole squad begins funneling in behind enemy lines, that’s not just sniping, that’s shaping the flow of battle. When Engineers keep a tank alive through fire and smoke, bailing out to land the RPG shot that secures the duel, they aren’t just mechanics — they’re duelists with steel cavalry at their command. And when Support goes from reviving half the team in a choke point to suddenly shocking a flock of enemies with pre-charged defibs, that’s not just playing your role — that’s making the front page of Reddit.

These are the moments that make Battlefield Battlefield. They’re the unplanned moments, stitched together by tools and gadgets designed to encourage both teamwork and mischief. BF6’s class unlocks prove that it’s not about picking the “best” loadout in isolation, but about how you decide to use those tools to carve out your gameplay. Some players will embrace the chaos of close-quarters carnage, others will dedicate themselves to the slow grind of team support, and others will spend entire rounds crafting sniper nests that will spark some frustrated banter in all chat.

As the full release brings bigger maps, more gadgets, and hopefully more refined balance, these setups should only get richer. The important thing is that the system is already fun — already brimming with possibility. The Beta showed us glimpses of what’s to come, and even in its limited state, there were countless ways to create those one-of-a-kind Battlefield moments. Whether it’s a defib kill, a tank duel, or a disgusting rooftop respawn, BF6’s unlocked classes are the foundation of highlights we’ll all be clipping in Discord after the match ends.
