Interview with WACKO of Team Reciprocity!
We talk to WACKO of Team Reciprocity about Apex Legends.
We talk to WACKO of Team Reciprocity about Apex Legends.
Leading up to the month of December, Apex Legends has been lackluster in the content department. Players are clamoring for more content and balances, as we talked about in our last interview with Nocturnal of Team Liquid. Despite all of that, Respawn announced that they were nominated for both Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer game at this year’s Game Awards. Today we talk to Jack "WACKO" Middleton about content changes, balancing, and his plea to get fans to vote for Apex Legends at the Game Awards.
Do you mind telling us how you became a member of Team Reciprocity?
WACKO: I've only recently become a member of Team Reciprocity after our performance at the $500,000 event in Krakow. We placed 8th out of 80 teams at the event, and we were approached by Reciprocity shortly after we left PENTA. Reciprocity is one of the best and most professional esports organisations out there. Couldn't be happier.
Which character do you main, and what about that character has made you attached to it?
WACKO: I main Wraith. The main reason I play Wraith is because it's needed in our team, and I was happy to play the role. Wraith brings so much to a team that it's impossible to run without her in the meta right now. Her teleport is the most useful ultimate in the game. You can use it to engage, disengage, and to save knocked teammates. The possibilities are almost endless with her ultimate. Regardless, I'm willing to play any legend that fits into the meta.
Apex Legends seems prone to dry spells where there’s no new content. What do you think Respawn could do or what would you do to give this game more life to avoid such frequent dry spells?
WACKO: I honestly think dry spells will be fixed when customs come to the game. Hopefully they have a variety of options when they finally decide to release them. Zombie mode, solos, duos, etc. All the modes that have been in the weekly events will hopefully be added to customs.
Balance is an important aspect when it comes to Battle Royales, and Apex seems to be jumping back and forth with new balance patches. Where do you think the current game stands in terms of balanced?
WACKO: I think the recent patches have been the worst since the release of the game, starting with the Charge rifle at the release of season 3. They've done a good job making it balanced after lots of outcry on social media. Now they have another issue with an overpowered weapon. The Peacekeeper is disgustingly overpowered right now. They attempted to nerf the weapon but made changes to the parts that didn't need touching. The worst part about the Peacekeeper buff is that I don't recall a single person saying the weapon was underpowered at all. I thought the weapon was in a sweet spot prior to the buff.
On a side note, Respawn launches Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order last week. With the launch saw EA and Fortnite work together to bring new in game content, such as costumes, most likely to market for the launch of their new game. Do you think EA should’ve done some marketing magic in Apex Legends as well to spice up the game?
WACKO: I would have instantly bought Star Wars skins in Apex if I had the opportunity to do so. I'm sure a lot of other players would have done the same. I'm confident that Respawn have a lot of cool plans for skins in the future. Let's stay hopeful, maybe we'll see some unique skin collaborations in the game soon.
Apex Legends is nominated for both Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer game at this year’s Game Awards. To all the readers out there, give us your reason why Apex deserves to win one or both of those awards.
WACKO: By far the most deserving game to win both awards. The game has some of the best gun play for any First-Person Shooter title out there, and by far the best gun play out of any battle royale. Another amazing feature that makes you instantly fall in love with Apex has to be the insanely fluid movement that gets you hooked from the first slide along the floor. If you haven't played Apex yet, I'd highly recommend you do so!
Anything you’d like to conclude this interview with?
WACKO: I'd like to conclude the interview with a shout out to my amazing organisation, Team Reciprocity, and my amazing teammates Nesh & Oraxe. Appreciate everyone that supports all of us. Appreciate Dignitas for reaching out to me to have this interview.
We'd like to thank WACKO for taking the time to do this interview with us. Good luck to him and the team at Reciprocity in their future endeavors!
