A short interview with the ADC player of AFK gaming, allied.
Who is Allied?
David "Allied" Hance is currently the hunter/ADC player for AFK Gaming and is known for being one of the first pro players in Smite. He has jumped from teams and sponsors constantly. He was originally on "Juice" with Dmbrandon then proceed to get on Root Gaming. Allied then got on the team "Snipe" where he was originally a support main until KAEYOH the original adc player for Snipe left. This is where Allied's career as an ADC/hunter player first began. After years of Smite, Allied has always been on a top 3 team in NA. After several changes to Snipe and now AFK gaming, his play and his team look better than ever.
As one of the strongest teams in the NA SPL scene, who do you think is your biggest challenge to go against?
Allied: Biggest challenge is TSM / Cloud 9 since we haven't faced them since season 1. I am extremely excited to fight Cloud 9 again since last season we ended 2-3 in sets vs them. They should be good games.
Has season 2 changed your view on the hunter role at all? Do you feel like hunters are in there right spot or could they be toned down?
Allied: Hunters right now are even more of hyper carry and critical roles to master. There is also more depth and counterpicks available depending on your team style which allows for more fun and variety in gods / gameplay.
As the challenger cup starts, are there any teams you are looking forward to watching? Are you rooting for anyone?
Allied: Eager is legit the only team I expect to win, they are the strongest team there next to Legon. I only expect them to win.
AFK Gaming, formerly Snipe, compLexity and M&M have always been at least top 3 in NA. What has changed in terms of gameplay style that has started the great success of your team? Which possibly makes you look stronger than ever.
Allied: The addition of cyclonespin has helped the team a lot on top of the wide array of strats we have developed over season 1 transferring over to season 2. Mostly we have a Carry solo laner while most people in NA plays support / tank solo laners. Being able to have that and make it work is absolutely amazing. So huge shoutouts to cyclonespin for having not only the god pool but the skill level to pull it off.
Many people have doubted Kiki’s ability to swap from solo to mid. How do you feel about him being there? Do you think he has adjusted and can compete with the best mid laners in the world?
Allied: Kiki is struggling but I think he is really solid personally. I don't feel like mid is much of a role to learn considering it's the central point of all the action but it takes good positioning, awareness and knowledge to make the most of mid lane. So far with very little practice Kiki has proven himself even without a god pool that he is one of the best mids in NA. I think he can do it.
As we end this interview, do you have any shoutouts you want to give?
Allied: To all my subscribers, friends, teammates and ... brick
