The Ardent Censer and Janna

An article discussing my opinions on the new support item, Ardent Censer, together with Janna.

The 4.10 Patch introduced a couple of interesting changes to some existing items. It also introduced us to two new items, the Essence reaver and the Ardent censer. I'm about to talk about the latter and how it has brought back one of my favourite champions in the game, Janna.

So, let's start with what the new item does.

As you can see, it gives modest stats. the movement speed and cooldown reduction are pretty nice but the rest is half decent, as you can expect on a support item. What is really intersting is the passive. It gives, as you can read, 25% attack speed to whomever you heal or shield. This has opened up a lot of pushing strategies with champions like alistar and thresh who can heal and shield the entire team, and thus, giving the entire team more attack speed. But this isn't an article about them, this is an article about Janna.

This is Janna's e, her shield, and it is this the ability that gets greatly buffed with the new item. Whenever you use it on your Ad-carry, you give them 25% attack speed, 50 ad and a shield that absorbs 240 damage. Since the item gives you 30 ability power aswell, your carry will additionally receive 3 more ad and a 21 damage stronger shield, not included runes and masteries, wich would enhance your carry even more. My normal ability power on janna is around 50 wich would give a total of a 275 shield, 55 Ad and 25% attack speed. If you rush this item and try to buy it as early as possible you should have it around 15-20 minutes on average. These stats at that time are insane. This will give your carry amzing stats and the ability to demolish the enemy team

Another ability that also gets overlooked is Janna's ultimate, Monsoon.

As you can see, her ultimate also heals your allies, giving them all attack speed. This could prove pretty useful in teamfight, but it is not as effective as the shield since you're not focusing on healing your allies with this ability, your primary use with this ability is the knockback.

The carries that are useful with this item on Janna are many, really, the only carries that isn't as useful as other are Corki and Ezreal, since these don't rely on attack speed as much as other carries.

The 4.10 patch has really shaken up the current meta. I really like the changes Riot made in this patch, which opens up all the heal supports once again. I predict that we will see alot more of Sona, Janna, Taric and Nami. This variety of the supports is making the role alot more fun and I for one, am looking forward to playing it alot more.
