Climbing Mount Elo

Everyone wants to climb ladder. Just don't let others get to you.

With League of Legends having a ladder system, people strive to be the best and climb to the top. But Mount Elo is not a straight ascend to the top, but a mixture of twists and turns. Don't get discouraged by the treacherous looking climb, but look forward to the journey.

The most important thing that one should remember is that when climbing, one should keep the right mentality. A good mentality is important because the biggest part of solo queue, in my experience, is staying positive. Positivity definitely goes a long way on the Fields of Justice. So what if your teammate gave up first blood, it's not the end of the game. Just relax and play well. If you constantly play well you will climb, so just chill! Staying positive also helps to prevent yourself from tilting out of rage. For those of you who do not know what tilt is, in short tilt is your personal decline in performance. If you are interested in learning more about tilt feel free to read more about it here.

The greatest weapon in a players arsenal is knowledge. Flatly put, smart calls win games. You can have all the vision in the world, the best mechanics in the world, or be the most OP champion in the game, but one bad call can change the whole tide of a game. Knowing when you have the strength to be aggressive, or when you need to be passive, is essential. Map awareness goes along strongly with this information. Keeping an eye on the map in order to gain the most resources, while losing the least possible, can slowly create a comeback or escalate a lead.

Knowledge goes a long way in League of Legends. People think that mechanics alone are enough to carry you up ladder. I for one use to believe that my mechanics could take me places, but as I started to climb I realized that League of Legends is much more than mechanical prowess. Knowledge can be gained from reading guides, watching streams, and just straight up playing the game. League of Legends has a high skill cap, it takes time to get better and to climb. Something important to remember is that everyday cannot be a day where you have positive LP gain. If you have a day with less LP than you started with, relax it's not the end of the world. It happens, just make it up, and hopefully more, the following day.

Thank you very much for reading! You can find my stream here, I try to stream daily with a streaming schedule TBA. I love interacting with the community, answering questions, and also doing commentary so please feel free to watch.
