Deadlock: Denizens and Jungle Camps Explained

There are many ways to farm Souls in Deadlock, and one of the most efficient ways is to farm denizens or creepers. But the tutorial doesn’t cover much about them, so here is a detailed guide on Denizens in Deadlock.

Deadlock has quickly risen to be one of the top MOBAs, and that’s in its playtest stage. The game ingeniously combines two genres that aren’t often seen together, Shooters and MOBAs. However, this unique mix creates an endlessly fun and competitive game, or at least that’s what the player count says.

But Deadlock is more MOBA than a shooter. As such, one of the fundamentals of any MOBA is to farm currency or, in this case, Souls. There are a lot of ways to farm Souls in Deadlock, and one of the main ways is Denizens, sometimes called Creepers. This article provides an in-depth look into Denizens.

What are Denizens

Denizens or Creepers are neutral NPCs that spawn throughout the map. These NPCs do not attack unless provoked, and if you defeat them they grant Souls. Apart from being a source of Souls, Denizens don’t have any other purpose.

All Denizens spawn in groups all across the map. These groups are divided into tiers or sizes.

  • Tier 1 or Small Camp
  • Tier 2 or Medium Camp
  • Tier 3 or Large Camp

The higher the tier the stronger and beefier the Denizens are, and the more Souls they drop. So, Small Camps contain the weakest Creepers and are easy to defeat but the Soul reward is also less. On the other hand, Large Camps have the strongest Creepers that deal a lot of damage and have a lot of health, but defeating them grants a lot of Souls.

The Camp you go for depends on the stage of the match and how strong your hero is. You should not be trying to clear Tier 3 or Large Camps in the early stages of the game, as your hero isn’t strong yet.

Here are all the stats you need to know about the different Creeper camps in Deadlock.

While Tier 2 and Tier 3 spawn at the same time, the latter should not be attempted until much later in the game. It’s not that anything is stopping you, but Tier 3 camps are difficult, so they should be tackled later.

Unsecured Souls

The other interesting thing is that when you kill a Creeper the Souls they drop are called Unsecured Souls. These Souls are gradually added to your actual Soul amount, and if you die with Unsecured Souls on you, they will drop and an enemy can pick them up.

So, if you are out farming Creeper Camps, keep an eye on your Unsecured Souls.

Which Is the Best Denizen Camp?

While Tier 3 camps award the most Souls, Tier 2 camps are generally the best. First, this is because of their abundance on the map.

There are more Tier 2 camps than Tier 1 or 3 camps. As such, finding them is very easy. Secondly, Tier 2 camps are not that high in difficulty, and you can easily solo them, whereas Tier 3 camps are quite difficult and you might need a teammate to help you which is generally inefficient.

In the mid-to-late stage of the game, your hero should be strong enough to take care of Tier 2 camps easily and quickly, allowing you to rack up Souls quite fast. You can still go for Tier 3 camps if you see one, but if your purpose is to farm Souls as fast as possible then go for Tier 2 camps.

What’s a Jungler?

Because farming Souls is essential by extension farming camps, a lot of teams assign this job to one or two players of the team. Their sole purpose is to find Creeper Camps and farm as many as possible.

This makes sure that other players on the team can focus on other objectives and they can rest assured that Creepers camps are being handled. Of course, there isn’t a strict rule to have a Jungler on your team, but it is generally advised.

If you are thinking of having a Jungler on your team, make sure they have the correct hero. Some heroes are just better at farming camps than others.

Good choices are Pocket, McGinnis, and Wraith, all of them can deal out massive damage quickly which is essential for farming camps swiftly. For instance, McGinnis’s ultimate can take out an entire Tier 3 camp, given it's leveled up and your hero is strong enough.

Conclusion

To put it simply, Souls are very important in Deadlock. They make your heroes stronger and allow you to buy items which also aid in strengthening your hero. Denizen or Creeper camps are one of the best ways to farm Souls, and you should not avoid them.

Plus, Creeper camps are generally quite simple, even if you don’t have a Jungler on your team, you can just look out for camps and clear them when you see them. This will make sure your team keeps raking in Souls.

The team with a Soul lead has a higher chance of winning the game, which is why trying to maximize your Soul farm is so important.
