Duo Queue: Is it worth?

Is duo queueing really worth it? It can be but it also can all go wrong.

Duo queue is something we all have done in league of legends but is it really a good idea? From first glance you have to imagine it is, since you are 2 people "communicating" to each other therefore you should have better synergy. However, that isn't always the case.

I have played with many friends in duo queue and the results most of the time are poor. Only one person out of my friends seems to have good synergy with me and we do well but everyone else it's either okay or really really bad. I asked myself why and if duo queue is really worth it?

One thing that must be noted when duo queuing is don't duo queue with someone that is bad. If you want to win, chances are the person that you are with is going to cost hard and lose the game for you. This is obvious, but sometimes you don't mind or you want to play with him/her. What I suggest you do is play normals and not ranked. That way if you lose a normal there isn't any ramifications on your rating.

Secondly, do you have good synergy with this person? A big thing is understanding the person you are playing with. If you are a passive player and your friend is this aggressive, all out player, you guys will struggle to do well since you both have different mind sets and won't do the same things. For example, your friend going in for a kill expecting you to help and you staying back thinking it's too risky.

Also if you are going to duo queue bot lane make sure that the champions you pick work well with each other. Don't go picking an Akali and Alistar lane thinking because we are talking live we are going to do well. Obviously there is a chance you guys can win it but in all likelihood, it won't happen and you will end up feeding and getting angry with each other. I'm sure anyone who has duo queued with a friend has had to bite his tongue because of some silly pick or a bad play and you just sit there in silence.

Communication is key so if you can get on teamspeak or skype, that would be preferable. That way you know exactly what the other person is thinking. Communicating with your duo queue partner is important. It gives you information you need to play accordingly to the other person and vice versa.

In my opinion, duo queue does not work most of the time because there is at times no communication with the players and the mindset of the players may change. Instead of thinking of yourself and what to do yourself you may start to think about what your duo queue partner is doing and what he must do. This can confuse you and make you play badly. I remember reading a guide about ranked and it said, worry about yourself and see your teammates as bots. I can understand this since you don't need to worry about your teammates and what they are doing. Play the game you want to play. With duo queue, you may need to change your style to suit his needs and this can hurt you because it isn't player you are.

Ultimately, if you find someone you have great synergy with and you destroy at whatever lanes you are playing and come into the mid/late game helping each other out. Play more; you guys have an advantage most players in the game don't.

If you guys just feed and make mistakes left right and center, pack your bags and go solo.
