Fortnite fans, mark your calendars—Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix drops on November 2, 2024! This throwback season will revisit iconic weapons, POIs, and items from Chapter 2, just as Fortnite OG did with Chapter 1. Based on an interview with Cooper, here’s a detailed breakdown of the weapons and items he hopes to see return, along with new insight into how they shaped the game back then.
This powerful weapon, introduced during the Marvel-themed Season 4, was known for its versatility, capable of firing accurately both at range and close quarters. It became a hot commodity during matches, often dictating the pace early on. As Cooper said, “Everyone would 50/50 the God chest to get it... whoever got the God gun would win.”
Its hitscan capability made it a favorite among players who excelled at tracking, providing a competitive edge that many hope will return for Remix!
Cooper remembers the Heavy Sniper as “fun but overpowered.” This weapon was notorious for its ability to break through walls with a single shot and deals devastating damage. However, Cooper acknowledges that in today’s meta, it might be too powerful, “With players being this good, the Heavy Sniper would be way too strong.” Still, its return could bring some thrilling long-range battles that Fortnite has lacked recently.
The Shockwave Launcher was a Mythic item that quickly became a fan favorite due to its ability to launch players without fall damage. Cooper loved using it in competitive play, describing it as “strong and fun to use in Arena.” The launcher added excitement by enabling fast rotations and outplays, and Cooper hopes it will return in Chapter 2 Remix to spice-up the movement options.
Cooper appreciates the skill gap that bows introduced, saying, “They’re like sniping, but harder.” Bows in Fortnite Chapter 2 came with unique variants—explosive, shockwave, and flame versions—providing variety for player preferences. Cooper suggests that limiting bows to rockets instead of infinite ammo could balance them better in the Remix season, ensuring that they add a challenging element without being too overpowered.
Jule’s Mythic grappler was an absolute game-changer. Cooper particularly enjoyed the freedom of movement the grappler offered, and says, “Having movement-based items like that was so much fun.” This Mythic, infinite movement item encouraged aggressive play, and its return in Remix could restore some of the fast-paced action fans loved from Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 introduced the element of fishing to the game and players were ecstatic. Slurpfish stood out for its dual healing properties, replenishing shield, and white health. Cooper remembers it fondly, “They were really strong and versatile... it’d be great to have them back.” With healing items becoming more strategic, the return of the Slurpfish could give players more options in high-pressure situations.
Cooper emphasized the utility of the harpoon gun, saying, “It was big in competitive... you could pull down walls or steal loot.” This tool became essential in high-level matches, allowing for quick edits and surprise plays. Its return in Remix would bring back a valuable item that promotes aggressive strategies.
Boats were introduced in Season 1 of Chapter 2 and were more than just vehicles. Cooper reminisces, “You could fish with them or use them for cool movement strats.” These watercraft added a new dynamic to the game, allowing players to rotate across flooded areas and engage in boat battles. If boats return in Remix, they’ll likely provide fun, creative gameplay and make water-based POIs more relevant again.
With Chapter 2 Remix, players can revisit popular POIs such as The Agency, Misty Meadows, and The Grotto. According to leaks, Remix is rumored to feature three phases, rolling out different parts of the Chapter 2 experience over the month:
The community eagerly anticipates the return of these beloved items and mechanics, with Cooper and many others hoping that Chapter 2 Remix will bring back the fun, fast-paced gameplay that defined Fortnite’s second chapter. Will these nostalgic favorites make a comeback? We’ll find out when Remix launches on November 2!
