Fortnite New Vehicle Mods Explained

Vehicle Mods are back in Fortnite and they are better than before!

The latest Fortnite season has brought a lot of new things to the game. In fact, this season has the most content out of all the seasons in Chapter 5. There are new POIs, NPCs, weapons, skins, and much, much more. And the cherry on top is the new theme for the season. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 brings a Wasteland-like or a Mad Max-esque vibe to the Island, and we are all for it.

With all this new content coming to the game, there are also some things returning: Vehicle Mods. They were first released in Fortnite Chapter 3, but now they are back in the game and are better than ever.

What are Vehicle Mods?

Vehicle Mods aren’t a new thing. They were in the game in the past, but Epic has decided to bring them back. For those unfamiliar, Vehicle Mods allow you to add attachments to the Vehicles in Fortnite. It’s as simple as Weapon mods but for cars.

Vehicles were mostly used for transportation and mobility in Fortnite. But, with this addition, your cars can become an offensive tool. With that covered, let’s move on to the types of vehicle mods available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3.

All Vehicle Mods in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3

There are currently six Vehicle mods (more to be added in future updates) available in the game. Each of them takes a slot on your vehicle. There are currently three slots for attachments in the latest season. These include the front bumper, roof, and tires. Here are all the vehicle mods currently in the game.

Machine Gun Turret (Roof Slot): Attaches a Machine Gun to the top of your car. It works similar to a minigun.

Grenade Launcher Turret (Roof Slot): Attaches a Grenade Launcher to your car.

Spiked Bumper (Front Bumper Slot): Attaches spikes on the front of your car. Ramming into enemies with this deals more damage.

Cow Catcher (Front Bumper Slot): Similar to Spiked Bumper but gives you more ramming power and allows you to destroy structures more easily.

Bulletproof Tires (Tires Slot): As the name suggests, these tires cannot be destroyed by shooting.

Chonkers Off-Road Tires (Tires Slot): Makes handling the car off-road a lot easier.

Vehicles will come with some of these attachments pre-fitted. But you have the option to swap them with other attachments at Service Stations spread across the map. These service stations will have Mod Boxes, which is how you actually apply mods to vehicles. Here is a list of all mod boxes in Fortnite. Each of the mods has its own Mod box. Each of the mod boxes attaches that mod to your vehicle. There is also the Repair Box, which as the name implies repairs your vehicle.

  • Machine Gun Turret Box
  • Grenade Launcher Turret Box
  • Spiked Bumper Box
  • Cow Catcher Box
  • Bulletproof Tires Box
  • Chonkers Off-Road Tires Box
  • Repair Box

All the attachments can get damaged after being shot at, but you can replace them again at a Service Station. You can also find these boxes all across the map, but they are more likely to be at Service Stations.

How to Mod Your Vehicle in Fortnite

With all the information covered, let’s move on to how you actually apply a mod to a vehicle. Well, it’s extremely simple. Once you have found these mod boxes, you only need to drive through them. The mod will be automatically applied to the slot and if there is already a mod on that slot it will be replaced. Check out the video below for more clarity.

Conclusion

Vehicle Mods are a great addition to the game. They give vehicles a bit more strategic use in Fortnite apart from mobility. Now, it will be much more important to use a car in Fortnite, and with the offensive power you can add to these vehicles, fights will become much more chaotic. But that’s what Fortnite is all about.
