The start of Season 16 (formally known as Season 2026) has introduced a multitude of changes to the game that have altered the game state from prior seasons. One of these important changes implemented includes the introduction of Role Quests– a new system designed to give players more control over their lanes and encourage players to excel in their role.
Role quests are tasks assigned to each role on Summoner’s Rift, which grant unique advantages depending on which role is selected when queuing up. The introduction of role quests have also curbed the need for role swaps to better balance the meta around playing your laning phase out completely.

Role quests progress further when staying in your assigned lane and playing your matchup out. Support and Jungle quests have stayed relatively the same with this new patch, as these two roles will continue to stack their respective items as the game progresses (World Atlas for supports, Gustwalker/Mossstomper/Scorchclaw for jungle).
Each role has a different number of points they need to complete their individual role quest. For example, Top Lane needs 1200 points total to finish their quest, while Mid Lane needs 1300 points. Points are earned through completing certain tasks while in game, such as killing minions and securing objectives, taking turret plates, and obtaining takedowns. For example, Bot Lane will earn 3 points when killing a minion in their respective lane, while Mid lane only receives 2 points. Additionally, all laners will passively generate points while in game; however, you will receive more points passively when you are in your assigned lane.

Top Lane is granted an increased level cap of 20 and +600 experience. Additionally, all future experience gains are increased by 12.5%. In addition to this, Top laners will also gain an empowered Teleport. If the Top Laner selects Teleport as a Summoner Spell, they are also granted a shield upon arrival. However, if the Top Laner did not select Teleport as a Summoner Spell, they will gain Unleashed Teleport with a 420 second cooldown.
Junglers’ Role Quests, similarly to Supports’, remains largely unchanged. Junglers, upon quest completion, receive 4% more movement speed in the jungle or river. That buff is increased to 8% when not in combat. Additionally, Junglers will also receive +10g and +10 XP for every large monster (ex. Krugs, Voidgrubs, Blue/Red Buff, etc.) they kill.
Mid Lane, on quest completion, is granted Tier 3 boots, which were previously locked behind last season’s Feats of Strength. Additionally, Mid Laners are also granted an empowered Recall, which reduces the time of their Recall from 8 seconds to 4 seconds. It is important to note that this ability has a cooldown of 300 seconds; takedowns on enemy champions will reduce a Mid laner’s cooldown on their empowered recall by 1 minute.
ADCs, upon quest completion, will receive 300 gold and increased gold rewards upon champion takedown (+50g) or minion kill (+2g). In addition to this, an ADC’s boots will move to their Role Quest slot, allowing an ADC to purchase another full item.
Support’s Role Quest remains largely unchanged from prior seasons, however, there are still rewards available for them. Supports, upon quest completion, will receive a discounted price of Control Wards, which are reduced to 40g from 75g. Additionally, Supports will also have their Control Wards moved to their Role Quest slot, allowing them to purchase another item similarly to ADCs.

Understanding the rewards you get from your Role Quest can make a difference in your next Ranked game. A fully scaled ADC, a Top Laner using Teleport to turn a crucial teamfight around, or a Support getting crucial vision around an objective are all things that a fully completed Role Quest can provide.
