In Chapter 3, Season 3 of Fortnite, Darth Vader was introduced as a skin and a boss you could defeat in-game. After Season 3 ended, Darth Vader was promptly removed. Now in Season 4 he has come back for a limited amount of time in celebration of a Star Wars collaboration. Defeating him will earn you his powerful Lightsaber but it may prove to be challenging at first. He uses several abilities with his Force powers and wields his Red Lightsaber to deal massive damage. In this guide, you will learn the best ways to defeat him and learn to use his Lightsaber.
This part is easy, as Darth Vader is located south of Greasy Grove every single game. You will see his Imperial Docking Bay Eclipse at the start of the game landing in this location.
Darth Vader starts with 700 points of health and shield, making him pretty hard to kill. His abilities are Force Leap, Force Pull, and Force Throw. Force Leap allows Vader to leap towards you to shorten the distance between you and him dealing 15 damage on impact. Force Pull allows Vader to pull you closer to him if there is enough distance between both of you. He may also Force Throw any object around the environment dealing 85 damage if it hits you. Vader could also use his Lightsaber to deflect incoming damage and throw it at you.
It’s highly recommended to bring a squad with you as having multiple players can overwhelm Vader since he can only focus on one player at a time while defending.
Stay mid-distance away from Vader. Staying too far away from him can cause him to leap or pull you towards him. Staying too close to him will make you vulnerable to his lightsaber attacks so also keep this in mind. If you find yourself in a situation where he Force Leaps towards you, you will have some time before he lands to move out of the way. The more you fight him, the better your timing will get
Try to land nearby but not directly on his docking bay to collect some supplies for the fight. I recommend searching around some tents because inside you will find Imperial Chests. Opening them will have a chance for an E-11 Blaster Rifle to spawn. You may be tempted to go head on with a lightsaber duel against him and, as fun as that may seem, it is very dangerous, so tread carefully.
Darth Vader's Lightsaber functions similarly to other Lightsabers, but the only difference being it can be thrown like a boomerang to deal ranged damage. The Lightsaber does damage in different intervals which means you won’t do the same amount of damage each hit. You will swing twice for 40 damage each, do a spin attack for 20 damage three times, and then overhead slam for 150 damage.
Like Darth Vader, his Lightsaber will also block damage. Holding the aim down sight button will cause the Lightsaber to block all types of damage except for explosives. Don’t rely on it for too long however, as after about 30 shots you will put it down and be forced to wait a three second cooldown. Another cool thing with this Lightsaber is that if you jump while blocking, you will dodge roll. This is handy when you want to avoid incoming fire but need to stay mobile.
The addition of the Darth Vader Boss into Fortnite has proven to be fun but challenging. If you missed out on seeing him in Season 3, then you have another chance during this Star Wars Celebration in Season 4! Defeating him will earn you his Red Lightsaber which comes with several abilities to use during battle. However defeating Darth Vader himself can be hard with his health and Force powers. Staying mid-distance away, teaming up with a squad, and being prepared with supplies will make this fight much easier. Have fun being a Jedi!
