How to Help Your Jungler Help You!

This jungling guide gives you a unique perspective of how you can help your Jungler help your lane in League of Legends. Today I will be discussing what you can do from top, mid, or bot lane and how to help your Jungler in each of these lanes.

As one of the most influential roles, a Jungler’s top priority should be to farm as much as possible, inhibit the enemy Jungler’s ability to farm, and to facilitate ganks to help other lanes. This is quite a bit of responsibility on one player’s plate, but luckily there are many ways that other players on the team can help make the Jungler’s life a little easier. In turn, your Jungler will be able to help you more and hopefully lead you all to a VICTORY at the end screen!

Understanding the State of the Game

When looking to help out your teammates and Jungler, it’s important to understand the state of the game and whether you will be able to help out effectively or unknowingly get the enemy team ahead. When looking for your Jungler to gank your lane, you want to make sure that your wave management is on point. This means knowing wave timings and understanding when it will be a good time to freeze, slow push, or fast push a wave. For example, let’s say you’re a top laner who is trying to freeze your wave a little closer to your turret. Doing this will give your Jungler easier access to gank since they won’t have to walk so far around. Enabling your Jungler to help gank you can also be achieved by maintaining vision control of the small brush by the river, and if you’re able to, a deep ward in the tri-brush by the Baron pit.

Vision Control

One of the key factors in helping facilitate ganks by your Jungler is vision control. By maintaining control of vision, you are also making sure you’re not going to be ganked by the enemy Jungler. Whether it’s warding the river bushes while in mid lane, or deep wards in the enemy jungle to track their movements, wards and vision control are crucial to your team’s success. One of the best ways to ensure vision and survival is to prioritize buying pink Vision Wards and enabling your team to track the enemy’s movements. Whether you’re pushing in towards the enemy’s turret or stuck under your own turret, gaining vision and information for your team is extremely important.

3-Minute Rift Scuttler Control

Depending on where your Jungler starts, they will most likely clear their jungle and then head to contest the Rift Scuttler at the 3-minute mark in either the top or bottom side of the river. In the recent patch, they reduced the health and gold of the first Rift Scuttler, but its vision and control over the river is not something to scoff at. Whether you’re in top, mid, or bot lane, it’s never a bad idea to roam and help your Jungler with Rift Scuttler and hovering for protection in case the enemy shows up. Having vision of either or both of these areas not only gives your Jungler confidence to move around the map, but it also gives you the security as well to feel a little more comfortable pushing in your wave.

How To Help Your Jungler Help You

From Top Lane

If you’re playing in the top lane there are a few ways that you can help your Jungler out. One of the main ways is to watch which camp your Jungler starts their clear at, and judge if they’ll be on their way to your lane or not. If they do happen to be heading top towards the end of their clear, it will be important to view the state of the game and whether you’ll be able to let the enemy push in, or if you’re too far pushing the wave towards the enemy. You’ll have to decide if it’s worth it to roam down to the Rift Scuttler to help your Jungler gain control or not as well. As a top laner who’s winning lane, it will also be vital to keep an eye on your enemy laner and support your Jungler if they choose to go for Rift Herald in the early game too. By helping your Jungler secure a Rift Herald, they may also be able to use it top lane to help you both get some gold from early game plates on the turrets. Either way though, if your Jungler is able to secure a Rift Herald it’s beneficial for your entire team which is what really matters in the long run.

From Mid Lane

If you’re playing in the mid lane, you have twice the amount of area to help your Jungler with. With access to both Rift Scuttlers, it’s imperative that you keep an eye on where your Jungler is heading and help with the scuttle on either side if you have enough of a push in the lane. As a general rule though, if you’re able to, it’s helpful for your Jungler and your whole team to hover on the side that your Jungler is on just in case the enemy appears. For example, if you’re playing a mid-lane champion with a lot of wave clear like a Malzahar or Vex, you’ll more often than not being to push in your lane quickly and be able to help your Jungler secure a Rift Scuttler at the 3-minute mark.

From Bot Lane

As the closest lane to the dragon pit, one of the best ways you can help your Jungler is to maintain wards in the river and keep track of dragon timers. If you’re able to get vision of the area surrounding the objective, it will help not only your lane, but your Jungler feel more comfortable about roaming on that side of the map. It may also make them more inclined to gank you if they are confident that the enemy Jungler isn’t there.

In this situation, our team’s support is clearing the enemy’s wards and placing Stealth Wards over the dragon pit to gain vision in order to contest the Chemtech Drake that is spawning. This ensures that we can see the enemy’s movements around the dragon pit and have a higher chance of securing this objective for our team.

Trying to stay diligent about where your Jungler is moving and whether or not they need help, will in turn hopefully make them more inclined to help your lane at a later point.

Communication

Arguably the most important to helping your Jungler and teammates, communication can make all the difference in a game and before team fights. It’s important to communicate Missing Pings, whether you’re close to level 6 to have your ultimate or highlight the whereabouts of enemy champions. The more positive communication you have with your Jungler and teammates, the higher chance of success you will have with the game.

Conclusion

Overall, if you’re able to maintain map awareness, vision control, help with Rift Herald or Scuttlers, and communicate with your Jungler and team, you’ll have a much higher chance of success through the course of the entire game. I hope this guide was helpful to look at the different perspectives in other lanes and the ways you can help your Jungler so they can help you. As always, good luck and have fun on the Rift!
