Interview with dignitas CoreJJ: "Once I got here I told [Kiwikid] I’m going to try my best to make you the best support in NA.”

Interview with our NA LCS team's AD Carry CoreJJ on Kiwikid, Azingy, and the new coach.

Former BigFileMiracle ADC and top of the Korean Solo Queue ladder, Yong-in "CoreJJ" Jo joined Team Dignitas a few months ago, and has been making a splash with duo partner AlanKiwikid Nguyen. Here I got a chance to sit down with CoreJJ after week 7 of the LCS with the help of our translator.

Hi Core, to start off how do you and Kiwikid feel your playstyle has been impacted by the different Junglers that you’ve played with so far this season?

CoreJJ: Regarding Kiwikid and myself as a duo, theres really not a lot of changes regarding our playstyle. With Azingy coming into the team recently, the team has changed our focus to help him and the solo laners improve their synergy.

How have you and Kiwikid been getting along? Last week in an interview, Kiwi mentioned how you thought he had the best laning in the NA LCS, could you expand upon that?

CoreJJ: Because Kiwi is such a great guy, we really don’t have any problems, playing together and befriending each other. Before coming over from Korea, I had heard rumors that Kiwi didn’t sound like the best player. Once I got here I told him, “I’m going to try my best to make you the best support in NA.” Now he’s improving a lot and he’s getting close to really being the best, that really helps me appreciate him.

Were you worried because you heard all of these rumors about Kiwikid’s play?

CoreJJ: I actually really like Kiwi’s play style, I like the fact he’s always trying to make something happen, and not just sitting there waiting to get rolled over.

Who made the decision that you two were going to be such an aggressive botlane?

CoreJJ: Just as players, both of our tendencies really match. For example, we both like going hard when our opponents show any weakness. Neither of us really decided we were going to be aggressive, our tendencies just matched.

So where do you and Kiwikid think you are compared to other botlanes in the LCS.

CoreJJ: I’m not really afraid to take on anyone, I don’t feel pressured and I don’t feel we fall behind anyone, it’s hard to just name a statistic.

How do you think Team Dignitas is doing and where you’ll end up next split?

CoreJJ: Obviously our current record this season isn’t great, but we’ve seen a lot of turnover in terms of the roster, and it’s really kind of impossible to get a good record under all of these circumstances. Right now the team is looking for the long term, and kind of look broadly, so thats where all of these decisive roster changes have come from, we want to ensure that we’re prepared next split so that we can go to worlds.

What’s your opinion of the new coach, SamiRicoHarbi?

CoreJJ: My first impression was that he’s very passionate. Although he just arrived yesterday, I feel like Rico’s been a great amount of help thus far. I’m looking forward to spend more time with him and working with him.

Thank you for the interview, is there anyone you’d like to thank?

CoreJJ: First off, I’d like to thank all of our sponsors, Corsair Gaming, Western Digital, Alienware, Scan, Intel, Twitch, iiyama and HyperX. I also really appreciate my parents, even though for the last year I’ve been in a bunch of different teams and haven’t really been able to achieve anything, they still place their faith in me, and believe in me and support my dreams. It makes me feel like I really need to accomplish something before I go back home, and it makes me try harder.
