KiWiKiD shares his thoughts with Ellektrikk about roster changes, and Team Dignitas' recent success.
So we recently caught up with Alan "KiWiKiD" Nguyen to talk to him about Team Dignitas' recent success in the LCS as well as how he feels about the changes that the team has recently gone through.
So what do you think about us going 5-1 in the past 3 weeks?
KiWiKiD: I think it's really awesome, like honestly, I don't mean to sound like a downer but I wasn't expecting such early success and I'm really happy that we can go and get this far and we still have a lot to improve on. It's looking really good for us.
So today the match against Team Liquid was pretty intense, I know I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Did this match have more meaning than others, what did you think about that game?
KiWiKiD: No this match meant a lot, I think a lot of people at least 50% of people and maybe critics would agree that Team Liquid is probably the best team right now, and beating them really means a lot. They're an extraordinary team, I did some interviews with other people and I put that I thought Team Liquid was the best team in NA right now, so yeah, it felt really good.
So what was the most important factor, I know you touched on that it was about critics accepting Team Dignitas as a top team but what do you think was the most important thing?
KiWiKiD: I think the most important thing was mine and Helios' early synergy, we kind of had an early scaling comp in my opinion. Me and Helios worked together and we burnt flashes across the map and we even then secured the first blood top and I think that was essential in the win.
So more about the roster changes, what are the big major differences between Azingy and Helios?
KiWiKiD: The biggest difference for sure is the amount each player talks. Azingy was getting a lot better at it near the end but I don't think it even compares to how much Helios talks. Helios is like a really bright spark on our team, I'm really glad we have him.
So Helios has a larger voice in general, how has his shot calling impacted the team?
KiWiKiD; His shot calling has impacted it by giving us a goal that we have. Now we are all oriented on the same objective, not just game objectives but also like "Ward red" for example, it just really helps.
So do you think there's a main one-voice shot caller now or do you think it's a collaboration of everybody?
KiWiKiD: It's more of a collaboration for sure, but I would definitely say that Helios and I have the most words and yeah you know what I'm trying to say. We talk the most, me and Helios.
So we've obviously made some huge changes from last split, especially on improving the team in general instead of just wins. So right now what do you think is the most important thing to improve?
KiWiKiD: I think the most important thing right now... I think we need to work on more team comps but also our Baron control isn't the best. Our control is good but our execution isn't that good. I think we set up for it very well with the amount of wards we need and we're very cautious of it as well as what we give up for it. But yes I think our execution is a little lacklustre and we need to work on that.
So those were all the questions I have for you, are there any shoutouts you'd like to give?
KiWiKiD: Shout out to all our sponsons Alienware, Corsair, Western Digital, Scan and all the rest, you can see them right here, iiyama, TP-Link, Twitch and Intel and thanks to all my fans, thanks for backing me up, I love you all.
