Professional CSGO player Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke has been playing CS:GO professionally for Team Dignitas. He's been a valuable asset for the Team Dignitas squad and has been playing with them after settling down in November last year. Today we interviewed k0nfig about the team and his personal life, enjoy the read!

Now that you've had a couple of months to settle in with the Team Dignitas roster, how do you feel mentally? Do you have any communication issues you think you could overcome or is the team synergy as good as you can hope?

k0nfig: I feel really pleased with the team, everyone is doing really well. Theres no communication problems at all, since RUBINO lived in Denmark for almost 2 years, theres no langauge barrier either.

After losing the close BO3 against Lounge Gaming at the ELEAGUE Road to Vegas, what are the confidence levels of the team approaching the event knowing you might have to face them again?

k0nfig: We're not scared to face Lounge Gaming, we had a disadvantage by playing with 2 standins, since Kjaerbye was on vacation, and tenzki's internet had crashed.

Do you feel like any certain teams are going to be a serious issue for you personally and the team altogether? And which team do you personally think is going to be the biggest hurdle for your team to overcome?

k0nfig: I think that EnVyUs is going to be the biggest fear of them all, we've played them a couple of times, but never managed to take a win home from them yet.

With the new year ahead of everyone, is there any events that the whole team is looking forward too specifically?

k0nfig: We really hope that we qualify for the MLG Columbus major, and we also hope that we can qualify for the DreamHack Leipzig event.

As a team and through your own personal play, do you feel like you're ready to qualify for a major with your current lineup? Is there anything you guys feel like you need to improve on drastically before hopefully reaching the major event stage(s)?

k0nfig: My personal play, and the team play works perfectly, everything is being sorted when we practice, and we should hopefully qualify for the major with this current lineup, and I don't think there's any big mistakes being made, improvement comes along with the time we spend together.

When it comes to personal goals, if you set any in 2015 did you feel like you met them? And do you have any CS:GO related new year’s resolutions for personal improvement?

k0nfig: My biggest achievement in 2015 was getting to an offline qualifier or major, but it didn't happen with the Reason gaming team, so hopefully we'll succeed with this new Dignitas lineup. I don't have any expectations set to be honest, but I really do hope we could make it to top 8 in a major.

Now moving onto some more personal questions, how do you feel now being on a team such as Team Dignitas? Did you expect or even have a goal originally to become a professional Counter-Strike player, or did it just kind of slot nicely into your life?

k0nfig: It's a really good organisation, and a good team, when I first started playing CS in 2004 I didn't expect anything, but in mid 2014 everything started blushing up, making CS:GO teams attending LANs in Denmark. The pro scene just kinda came along with the time I spent on CS.

How did you personally get into Counter-Strike? Was there any major influences in your life or did you just kind of stumble across the game a while back?

k0nfig: I was playing CS 1.6 when I was 5-6 years old in my school club house, I really liked the game, and I spent much of my time in the gaming area. Then in 2004 I bought CS:S and started playing that, and really enjoyed the time I spent in the game, so I continued spending my time playing CSGO when it came out, and I liked it even more than any of the other games in the CS series.

Whilst on your way through different Counter-Strike tournaments, which one is your most memorable event, and which team were you on at the time? What made it so special?

k0nfig: My first big event was Dreamhack London with SK, it was my first event outside of Denmark. It was special because SK asked me 2-3 days before the event if I wanted to join them and come to the event with them. So I took the chance and went with them, and we actually did a really good job there.

And finally, being a competitive person, how does it feel with Counter-Strike becoming an extremely large and popular eSport? Does it excite you or worry you about any upcoming stars or big events that might happen in the near future?

k0nfig: I'm really happy that eSports have become this big, for me and everyone else, since you can make a living out of it now. I never thought in my life, that I could live off of playing a computer game, so I'm really happy that our sponsors make this possible for me. I'm excited for everything, if it's a upcoming star, or if it's a big tournament, it doesn't matter. I'm ready for it all!
