Interview with Melior Morior's CycloneSpin

CycloneSpin speaks out for the site.

Who is CycloneSpin?

Jarod "CycloneSpin" Nguyen is the current solo laner for Melior Morior and is very well known for out of meta picks in his role such as bringing Serqet and Awilix to the solo lane and is very versatile in what he does. Most games will see him making the best plays, recently gaining the title of SPL player of the week for this too.

CycloneSpin is best known for starting his competitive career with Fat Chunks Assemble but after being knocked out of the path to the Smite World Championship the team disassembled and went their own ways, CycloneSpin then went on to become the new solo laner for what was compLexity at the time when the team switched around their roster going into the new competitive season.

What do you feel makes a God viable for the solo lane?

CycloneSpin: The ability to counter other gods in the 1v1 and has a presence late game, whether it’s being annoying to the enemy or peeling for your teammates.

How did you and the team feel about leaving the compLexity sponsor and what is to come in the future?

CycloneSpin: We felt that compLexity wasn’t the right fit, and we would be able to achieve more as our own team. What’s coming for the future is Smite World Champions 2016 ;).

Do you think there will be any star players to look out for in the upcoming weeks?

CycloneSpin: Tyrone “Shadownightmare” Farrell and Ismael “KikiSoCheeky” Torres.

Do you feel there are any play styles or Gods that aren’t getting enough attention as they deserve?

CycloneSpin: He Bo and Chronos. Chronos especially because I feel like he does so much in this meta, with the burst damage and tower pushing he has.

What are your predictions for the upcoming SPL and Challengers Cup?

CycloneSpin: Of course, my team will win the Spring Split along with The Name Changers. EU side it’ll be Fnatic and Team Dignitas. Challenger cup-wise NA is going to be dominated by Eager and Legion. EU will be Panthera and The Night’s Watch.

What would be your favourite god to play in the solo lane?

CycloneSpin: Bastet and Bakasura. I really like their character models and kits and how they bring different play styles and approaches in solo.

Do you think that picking out of the meta helps to beat teams that have experience in the competitive scene?

CycloneSpin: It always helps to have pocket picks to bring out versus seasoned “best” teams because like in the finals at SWC, it will catch them off guard. Getting that decisive victory in like game one will really set the pace for the rest of the series.

How do you feel about the meta within solo lane after the introduction of season two?

CycloneSpin: It remains relatively the same, though healers with the introduction of Lotus Crowns might see some more play, which leads to counter picking - effectively increasing the amount of gods that’ll be played in solo.

What do you think solo laners are able to provide for their teams?

CycloneSpin: Solo Laners are able to provide a second hyper carry, or a second support for their team. Most of the time being the highest farm, gives them natural tankiness that allows them to do virtually anything in fights.

We wish all the best for CycloneSpin and his team for the future! A great guy to keep up with, his details found below.
