We take a moment to analyze and discuss MaSsan's unique Miracle Rogue deck.
There are many creative, interesting decks out there. What intrigues many, however, is the unique variations on certain decks. Today we will be discussing MaSsan's own Loatheb Miracle Rogue Deck.
For those of you who don't know, Miracle Rogue is a deck that is centered around the card Gadgetzan Auctioneer. This is an extremely strong card that allows you to draw a card every time you cast a spell. Miracle Rogues often play safe early and honestly attempt to survive until they can get an Auctioneer off and maybe conceal it to keep it safe. Once the Rogue makes it to this stage in the game, it is quite hard to stop it, unless the rogue has some pretty bad draws. A Miracle Rogue excels at chunking you down with spells until you are finally finished off by a Leeroy + Shadowstep combo.
The Loatheb in this deck, I feel, is to have another answer to classes such as Mage and Druid. It makes their priority spells such as Fireball, Frostbolt, and Swipe become a much bigger decision to make regarding whether to use it or not. If they decide to use it, it will consume a whole other turn, and not allow them to play a single other card, allowing you, the Rogue, to take the advantage the following turn, whether it be by increasing your board presence, clearing the enemy board with your spells, or simply Leeroy'ing face for the win.
In my opinion, Miracle Rogues excel exceptionally well against any rush decks, such as a Zoo, murloc, rogue/pally rush, or any more of the sort. The capability behind SI:7 Agents, Backstabs, Eviscerates, Dagger + Deadly Poison, and Shivs is incredible. Because most rush decks center around a good number of low health cards, Miracle Rogue is an incredible matchup to have.
Miracle Rogue tends to struggle against Warriors, Druids, and Mages. The struggle with Warriors is that they LOVE to stack armor left and right, it can easily spiral out of hand. One factor that really crushes Miracle Rogues is the warrior card Brawl. Brawl can easily wipe out a stacked VanCleef or an Auctioneer, and that can ruin your whole game. As far as Druids go, the Druid taunt deck is becoming more and more popular, and taunts really scale well against Miracle Rogues, mainly because taunts easily destroy your Leeroy + Shadowstep combo.
The two main troublesome cards that come with the Druid class are Swipe and Ancient of War. If you don't have a Conceal for your board, Swipe can easily take out your Auctioneer and possibly some other cards too, while the Ancient of War can destroy your board because you don't tipically run silences in this deck; the closest you have is Sap, but that Ancient of War will eventually make its return to haunt you yet again. Mages can also give you a tough time because of many reasons: some of these being the secrets and spells.
Now, you might be thinking, isn't that all a Mage is? Well, more or less, yes; however, certain cards such as Frostbolt and Fireball have the potential to wipe out your board, as well as cards like Blizzard and Flamestrike. Those last two cards can bypass your Conceal and wreck your board. Now, onto the secrets. Secrets such as Ice Block can stop your finisher combo in its tracks, allowing them to possibly have an answer the next turn. Cards like Ice Barrier, Vaporize, and Mirror Entity aren't really that effective against your deck; they are just more of a nuisance.
