We won’t sweep around the bush (ba-dum-tis): Buying skins in League of Legends won’t make you a better player… But hey, who needs LP when you can slay in style!
Splurging… ahem, “investing,” in a new skin gives you a chance to glow up your champion. You’ll get to flex an eye candy-worthy look, flashy animations, and killer sound effects. And with thousands in the game, there’s sure to be a skin that suits your tastes (and budget).
However, if you need some inspo on which skins are truly worth the RP? Then halt that Ranked Queue and keep reading. We’ll highlight some of the most purchased skins in League of Legends below.
While Riot hasn’t publicly released this data, third-party sites like OP.GG provide some insight into which skins are most popular and commonly purchased among the player base.
We’ve referred to this data when compiling this list, as well as information sourced from online LoL community groups and past comments made directly by Riot.

Muay Thai Lee Sin isn’t the flashiest skin out there, so it may surprise you to hear that this is one of the most purchased skins in the game. However, any Lee Sin main will be able to tell you why this skin is worth every penny: the animations feel exceptionally smooth.
Sure, it’s not “pay2win” territory, but it does make mastering Lee Sin’s complex mechanics just that lil’ easier on the mental. Plus, the skin is easy on the wallet, honors his lore, and truly feels like the perfect upgrade to his base model.

Pool Party Caitlyn probably isn’t a skin you’re going to equip in Ranked, but it is a fun, playful skin that is sure to relieve any tilt.
I would like to think that the reason this skin is so popular is because of the splashtastic sound effects, colorful animations, and the ingenious concept of “upgrading” Caitlyn’s rifle to a water gun…
But in reality? It’s probably the Baywatch-worthy character model. It’s pure fan service, with her revealing bikini leaving little to the imagination.

Ever dreamed of smacking your overbearing boss with a suitcase? Well, you’re in luck — you may not be able to live out that fantasy IRL, but you can in-game with Corporate Mundo.
The skin transforms Mundo into a hilarious Wolf of Wall Street-esque businessman, equipped with the essentials, like an overpriced suit and garish gold watch, and a swanky black suitcase… That you’ll get to throw at your enemies as you chase them. Yeah, it’s the perfect way to de-stress after a 9-5 office grind.
If that hasn’t swayed you, as it has for the majority of the player base? Then the fact that you arrogantly strut across the map and zoom around in a pint-sized car might.

While World's skins have a notorious reputation for being underwhelming, IG Kai’Sa is one of the few exceptions. In fact, this skin is so well-designed that it remains one of the most purchased esports skins of all time.
Look at it in-game, and you’ll quickly understand why. It encapsulates exactly what an esports skin should be about: Crisp, clean gameplay over eye-candy clutter. Every element feels refined and smooth, and the character design elevates Kai’Sa without losing sight of her original design.

A name like “Galaxy Slayer” sets some very high expectations… And Riot not only delivered but exceeded them. From the stunning cosmic-powered armor to the attacks that are flashier than the stars, it’s a total masterpiece. It’s sure to make you feel like an omnipotent, intergalactic god.
But best of all? The taunt. It’s absolutely terrifying and will no doubt bait out a flash or two — pure tilt-inducing perfection.

I’m a total sucker for anime-themed skins, and it seems the wider community feels the same way. Star Guardian Jinx is overflowing with magical girl goodness; we’re talking bright hues, fun animations, and of course, plenty of frills and glittery explosions.
It has the perfect balance between kawaii and badass, and truly honors Jinx’s equally playful personality. Plus, her magical mediums (Kuro and Shiro) are just too adorable to resist.

High Noon Lucian has the ultimate combo: the Wild West, demons, and guns. So, it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most purchased skins in the game among ADC players. High Noon Lucian doesn’t skimp out on the details, either; it’s jampacked with badass features, creative emotes, and powerful sound effects.
I also have to give Riot credit for the satanic transformation when Lucian recalls and ults; it makes even Thresh look like an angel.

While there are plenty of top-tier K/DA skins, K/DA Akali is widely considered to be the best of the line. The skin makes you feel like a genuine idol — move over, Seraphine mains — and turns the Rift into your personal stage, with killer music, flashy particle effects, and showstopping animations.
The neon transformation in the shroud is also a phenomenal touch, and gives the skin an “Ultimate” flair despite its “Epic” price tag.

Nightbringer Yasuo might not stop you from going 0/10, but it certainly makes you look (and feel) like you’re a 20/10 carry. The skin honors Yasuo’s fiery side with plenty of flames, hellish animations, and a character model that’s literally smokin’. To top it off? The ultimate is utterly satisfying and truly gives “final battle boss” energy.

Jhin likes to picture himself as a god, especially when he lands that fourth shot. So, it’s no surprise that Dark Cosmic Jhin — a skin that transforms Jhin into a badass, galactic demonic god — was one of the most purchased skins in 2019.
From his horrifying mask to his grotesque four arms and world-destroying animations, the overall look is sure to give your enemies nightmares… Likely a zillion more nightmares than Thanos gave the Avengers.
Dark Cosmic Jhin’s voice has also been given an otherworldly, horror movie-worthy filter, meaning even your enemies' ears won’t be left unscathed.

Vayne is already a “ride or die” champion, with her high-risk, high-reward playstyle… So, why not honor this by literally riding to the enemy’s Nexus?
Enter PROJECT: Vayne. A badass, cyberpunk-themed skin that’ll allow you to hop on a motorcycle, rev it up, and ride your way down the Rift. It’s one of the best Homeguard animations in the game — and the skin’s popularity certainly reflects that.
And yes, the character model and attack animations are also top tier, packing tons of holographic vibes and sci-fi inspiration.

While some Ultimate skins are disappointments and a clear cash grab — cough, Gun Goddess MF — Elementalist Lux is one of the few Ultimate skins that feels worth the buck. In truth, many players would be willing to splurge more on this skin; it’s just that good.
After all, you get 10 stunning forms in one skin, each unique and beautifully inspired by an element. Not a single form feels underwhelming, and although the skin is over a decade old, it still holds up today. The animations are effortlessly smooth, and the sound effects give you that oomph without being noise-grating.
Giving your favorite champion a new look is a great way to glow up your gameplay… And to help relieve some tilt after a loss streak (#buying skins = self-care). The skins above are some of the most purchased and popular in the game, but there are plenty more great skins out there.
Do you agree that the skins above are worth the splurge? Or do you feel that another skin should be mentioned here? Be sure to share your thoughts (and complaints) in our dedicated LoL Discord community group!
