One of the most important things you can do in SMITE, or any MOBA, is rotate. At the beginning of the match everyone starts in their lanes, but that does not mean they stay there the entire match. There is nothing more annoying than getting in a team fight, or noticing that the entire enemy team has invaded 1 lane to find that some of your team has not rotated in, and only stayed in their lane.

Having map awareness helps a lot with determining just how much help is needed, you should not just rely on your team mates to call for help, you should be looking to see if they need it. This can make all the difference in determining the outcome of your match, the more team work, the better. I know, that tower with such little HP, or that undefended lane looks so tempting, but helping maintain the lives of your team mates is a much better outcome by far.

How To Know When To Rotate
It is important to know exactly when to rotate, Like when your team mate is outnumbered by more than 2 enemies, or when you can see the enemy from your lane rotating into the jungle towards your team mate. If you are outnumbered in your lane and there is a team fight in another lane, it is best not to rotate, it may cause you to lose your lane or get followed and ganked in the process.

How To Be More Prepared
You can be more aware of the enemy teams actions by placing Wards such as a Ward, Sentry Ward, or Eye of Providence. This will allow you to see who is going where and can help determine what action you and your team needs to take. Another good item to carry is Teleport or Shielded Teleport, this will allow you to teleport to any of your allied towers, for a fast and prompt rotation and help. Having map awareness is a great advantage, especially when you are able to refer to your mini map at every available opportunity; this will allow you to be more aware of your team and your own surroundings. It also allows you to see when enemies are incoming and gives you the chance to call for help.

Good rotation is the key to a successful match along with communication. Rotation is completely necessary, no matter the game mode. This is a TEAM game, not a PVP, Everyone has a part to play in the team and if one person is not cooperating then the whole team is let down. Never should a player think, 'They'll be alright without me' when they should be thinking, 'we'll do better if we are all together'. The more the team works together, the less everyone rages and the more you start kicking butt!
