Shauna Vayne, the #LOMO Slayer

This is an extremely high risk/high reward build for Vayne.

Vayne the LOMO Slayer
High Risk/High Reward build

If you’re anything like me when I’m playing League of Legends, all you want to do is fight. All I care about is getting as many autos off in lane while CSing as I can. This guide that I am about to share for you is extremely dangerous, and is not for beginners. With this guide, you need to move like water, and flow around the lane with your heightened combat stats. This build works specifically well with champions that have a lot of CC and that can set up Condemns for you, like Thresh, Braum, and Leona.

RUNES

First, let’s start off with Runes. This is where you set yourself apart from your lane opponent and build full glass cannon. Stay with me on this one, I’ll explain all of this soon enough.

MARKS: The Marks you take for this build are the only similar runes you’d find in a traditional Marksman rune page. You take 9 Flat AD Marks.
SEALS: This is where you can have a little preference on how full throttle you’d like to take this build. Either go with 5 Flat HP Seals, and 4 Flat Attack Speed Seals, OR take the recommended route of 9 Flat Attack Speed Seals.
GLYPHS: Again, you have the option here of playing it a little safe and running 5 Flat Magic Resist Glyphs, and 4 Flat Attack Speed Glyphs, OR taking the recommended choice of 9 Flat Attack Speed Glyphs.
QUINTS: Take 3 Flat Movement Speed Quints.

“What is this guy crazy!? Why would anyone in the world want to use this rune page?”

Don’t worry, I’ve heard it before! Plenty of times actually, but here’s why: Vayne is very weak in lane nowadays, almost every popular Marksman like Lucian, Kogmaw, Caitlyn, and Trist absolutely crush her and out-trade her in almost every circumstance. So you’re probably thinking, “well wouldn’t that mean we would want a defensive rune page?” and the answer is no. In this circumstance, offense is the best defense, and with this rune page, you will be able to out-trade anyone under the correct circumstances.

The correct circumstances are your support setting up something in lane, or your Jungler coming through. As soon as any CC is landed, you can easily position yourself with the extra movement speed, and burst out the target with more procs of your Silver Bolts. Like I said beforehand, this build is extremely risky, but it will make any Marksman looking for a challenge feel like a god for pulling it off. If done perfectly, or even well, you will come out on top of each trade and have the movement speed to out-kite all of your opponents.

MASTERIES

Okay, for Masteries, there isn’t that much difference from a normal Mastery page for Vayne.

For the Offense page, I choose not to dab into the Spell Weaving/Blade Weaving, because Vayne is very auto-attack centric and doesn’t really rely on enough spells to make those worth taking. Skipping the Warlord Mastery is also wise, because with the items you’ll be buying, the 2% Attack Damage won’t be worth having. For Defense, it’s 6 out of the traditional 9 points you’d see in there, but I take three and put them into the Utility page for Fleet of Foot. With that Mastery you’ll start of the game with 6% bonus movement speed.

ITEMS

This is what your final build will look like at six items. For starting items, take a Doran’s Blade and a potion. You could trade in your boots for a Zephyr in the very late game, but having Berserker Greaves with a Furor enchantment will do a lot more for you during team fights. It’s important to rush the Blade of the Ruined King first. This item has everything that Vayne needs some cc, % health damage, attack speed, attack damage, and life steal. It’s pretty important to rush it, but if you’re falling behind, you can consider buying a second Doran’s Blade and T1 boots before it’s finished. Your second major item should be the Statikk Shiv; it provides a lot of movement speed, and pushing power.

With this risky build you’re running, once you make it out of the laning phase, you want to be split pushing and making use of your superior 1v1 stats; having Shiv will help you be a split push threat.

If the other team is stacking a ton of armor, then your third item should be a Last Whisper. If they aren’t, you can either go straight for an Infinity Edge, and then get Last Whisper, or if you need some defensive stats, just get a Banshee’s Veil. Then round out your build by getting the rest of the items pictured above and you will be an untouchable machine (if you’re kiting well)!

CONCLUSION

Good luck. This build has brought me a ton of victories on Summoners Rift. It takes some getting used to, but with these runes & masteries, it’ll make playing Vayne feel more fluid than ever.
