The Best Loadouts for Different Roles in Competitive Fortnite

As the Fortnite skill gap grows wider, the loadout you use to match your competition becomes crucial. With the loot pool changing on a regular basis, it can be hard to pinpoint the essentials you need to stand a chance. This article will go through the best loadouts for each role in Fortnite.

One of the best parts of Fortnite is that a player can make almost any loadout fitted to their needs. Even though there are a multitude of play styles, when it comes to hard-set structure, the best of the best can adapt to any situation. With that in mind, these loadouts are not set in stone but are a guideline for players.

Before the main loadouts are listed, first we will briefly cover the key components.

MOBILITY

Kinetic Blade

Weapon used for movement and deal low damage to players.

ODM Gear

Traverse swiftly by grappling to different surfaces and swinging towards them.

Legendary Slurp

Chug Splashes

Heals 20 HP.

Small Shield Potion

Heals 25 Shield, up to 50.

Shield Keg

WEAPONS

BEST LOADOUTS IN COMPETITIVE FORTNITE

IGL

With a limit of five slots, every player must keep in mind that anything you deem necessary has to actually serve a purpose. For the first role to tackle, “In-Game Leader” (IGL), their loadout is primed for directing the team as well as keeping mobility in mind.

FRAGGER

The fragger's job is fluid in the team and requires quick and efficient eliminations as well as assisting with team movement. Their loadout is kitted to get tags during mid-game and hit hard shots during fights.

SUPPORT

Every good duo needs support that can back them up in nearly all situations. Although this role is dubbed “support”, this role does not necessarily have to carry a ton of heals. Their loadout is kitted to help finish eliminations, quick movement, and healing power (if necessary).

SOLO

As a solo, you take on these three roles in one. Many players make the mistake of prioritizing the wrong items like heals over weapons and vice versa. The key to doing well with your loadout is to have a balance. This gets tricky as each game has different players and you need to shift the balance each time. Reading the lobby and overall game sense can help you with this issue.

SPECIAL WEAPONS AND ITEMS TO CONSIDER

Although the load-outs listed above are the “ideal” base standard, there are some other options that can be used to really shake up the competition.

To start, the current holy grail of Assault Rifles is the Overclocked Pulse Rifle.

This gun is perfect for short to long-distance damage. Its only pitfall is that they are very limited on the map (max of three) and are highly contested. Having this weapon in the lobby makes you the scariest team on the map. The damage output in addition to its fire rate makes it deadly in any situation.

Two other healing items that may catch your enemy by surprise are the Flopper and Shieldfish.

Although there are arguably better healing items on the map, when obtaining those is not possible for you, fishing these out may be almost as good. These may not be a Legendary Slurp but in a fight, they can get you from 50 HP to 100 HP/100 SP in seconds. This can really turn the tide in any fight as most opponents won’t expect such a drastic health change in a small amount of time.

Finally, the most sought-after shotgun, the Enhanced Havoc Pump Shotgun.

The selling point for this shotgun is the fact that its max damage is 210, bringing us back to the days of the 1-pump. This variant of the Havoc is better in every sense in that the DPS is higher, and the range is better. The Enhanced Havoc can be found in vaults around the map requiring a keycard and just like the Overclocked Pulse Rifle, they are highly contested.

Conclusion

Although these loadouts are challenging to obtain, it's good to remember that there is only the ideal standard. The expectation is to strive for this loadout while keeping your own personal play style in mind as well as that of your teammates. With the onslaught of updates and the variety of customizable options, Fortnite competitive players have endless possibilities to creatively win more flights, get victory royales and place themself at the top of the leaderboard.
