With every new Fortnite chapter comes a brand new map for players to explore and discover all the new changes and mechanics Epic has added to the map. With Chapter 5: Season 1, the map has so many great areas for players to land, which provides a great start to each match. However, just like with previous maps, there are always going to be places that players favor over others when looking to drop, and this map is no exception. Here, we are going to go over some of the new locations that will help you get a leg up on others when you drop each match.
Before We Start…
With every new Fortnite map, there are going to be locations that some people prefer over others, depending on their playstyle and the path of the Battle Bus. Keeping that in mind, this list is based on different factors, such as the overall location, whether the location has a boss or other NPCs, or whether the location accommodates different play styles, such as aggressive or passive. Taking all of this into consideration, this list is meant to tackle all these things so that all players, new and experienced, know what to expect when landing there.
Reckless Railways
To start this list off strong, we have Reckless Railways. What makes Reckless Railways so great is its centralized location on the map. Not only is it surrounded by six other named locations that you can rotate to depending on the path of the storm, but it also has the new train (hence the name) that was added that passes through each game. Not to mention that the loot that this area has to offer is also very good. One thing to keep in mind is that due to the location and the attraction that this location brings, it is a very popular drop destination, so be prepared to fight once you drop and gather a few weapons and items. Don’t worry about the NPCs too much; make sure you take care of the other players before going for the boss’s medallion and keycard.
Ruined Reels
Ruined Reels is the next location on this list. Ruined Reels is a great spot for many of the same reasons that make Reckless Railways a great location. However, there are some differences. For starters, there is no medallion to collect at Ruined Reels, so if that is part of your agenda when looking for a place to land, be aware that you will have to rotate to a different location nearby to get one. However, since Ruined Reels is a bit smaller than Reckless Railways, fewer people tend to land here depending on the path of the Battle Bus. So, if you are looking for a location that allows you to get some good rotations after you are settled and you also want a little less early-game action, Ruined Reels may be the place for you to check out.
Grand Glacier
What makes Grand Glacier a good landing spot is not necessarily the named locations that it is located around, but rather the smaller landmarks in the areas surrounding it. While it is nice that Reckless Railways and Hazy Hillside are around the location, the smaller landmarks make for a safer landing spot to loot up. In addition, once you gather a small loadout at Grand Glacier or one of the nearby landmarks, several ziplines, and jump pads around the area make rotating or escaping the storm very easy. Not to mention there is a medallion to collect at Grand Glacier, which is always a plus. However, just like with every other location with a medallion, be sure to keep an eye out for other players lurking in the area.
Rebel’s Roost
Rebels Roost is one of the more remote locations on this list; however, that does not make it a bad location by any means. Located in the top left corner of the map, this location is a good spot for players who want to collect good loot and get a solid loadout built but want to avoid a lot of early-game chaos. Since it is a named location, there is still a good chance other players will look to land here, so be wary. Still, if the path of the Battle Bus is not too close to the area, you are likely to have a bit of a quieter start to your match, allowing you to load up on items and weapons without the hassle of too many other players trying to take you out.
Snooty Steps
Just like Rebels Roost, Snooty Steps is a bit of a remote location. In the bottom left corner of the map, Snooty Steps brings a nice blend of action without too much chaos. While it is a bit further from a lot of the areas on the map, the fact that there is a medallion here is what makes it more of a popular location than Rebel’s Roost. Not to mention, unlike Rebel’s Roost, the train also passes by Snooty Steps, allowing for easy traversal around the map. If you happen to miss the train, Pleasant Piazza and Fencing Fields are located just north and northeast of Snooty Steps, allowing for some solid rotations after you clean things up and defeat the boss.
Conclusion
The new map that Chapter 5: Season 1 brings is one of the better maps that Epic has added to the game. It is a very well-rounded map that provides a lot of different and unique areas for players to land and explore. These locations listed are all great places to get introduced to the new map, depending on each person’s playstyle. Make sure you check them out and explore the entire map to see which location you like to drop at the most!
