The Best Spots to Plant for Each Map in CSGO by f0rest
f0rest gives his opinion on the best spots to plant in clutch scenarios and why they’re the ones you should try to use
Clutch scenarios are those dreaded situations no player wants to find themselves in for several reasons - the team is solely dependent on you to win the round and you’re totally alone trying to win a round against one or more opponents. It’s also where you can separate the men from the boys when talking about CS:GO.
Knowing how to interpret all the information you’ve received from your teammates, knowing the time it takes for your opponents to reach you, having good movement, good crosshair placement, game awareness… everything is tested to the limit in clutch situations. Winning a clutch is generally a combination of skill, good play, and using your opponent’s mistakes to your benefit. Also, making sure you get 1v1s all the time.
Knowing where to plant the bomb is also important, since there are better spots for it than others, especially when you’re trying to clutch that important round. Of course, there are no two equal rounds, meaning that the decisions you’ll make solely depend on the situation of the round and the information you have, but knowing the best spots to use whenever the opportunity appears can be game-changing.
To help with this topic I’ve partnered up with Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg from DignitasVIE CS:GO team! Who better to give his insight than one of the best players to have ever touched the game?
Let’s take a look at each map in the map pool. I asked f0rest to tell me his favorite spot on each map, no matter the bombsite or the clutch situation - these are ideal scenarios and you should plan your own around the information you get here.
A good plant is one that can be seen from as many spots as possible, creating many different angles that the CT has to worry about when trying to retake and making the life easier for the T. The more open the plant is, the better for the player clutching
Inferno
This is a good spot to plant if it’s safe enough for you to do it. You can watch the bomb from many different positions very easily, making it very hard for the CTs to defuse safely.
Dust2
It’s a fairly default plant, but that’s why it became almost default - it’s very good. You can see the bomb from both Short and Long and the CTs have to be very exposed to try a defuse
Mirage
It’s a very open bomb plant position and that’s why you see most teams plant there whenever the situation allows for it. You can safely see the bomb from anywhere besides from Palace.
Nuke
The Toxic plant is one of the best plants, I would say - as a CT, you need to be scared from Windows, Long Doors, Short Doors, he can be hiding in the dark room, everywhere! There are so many places for the T to be just kind of keep the CTs guessing if you play around the back, going around the different positions.
Train
Train is quite hard. I’d say on the Long side of the B bombsite, so you can push forward more safely when playing a clutch situation. You can also come back Upper and play the post-plant from up there. It’s a very exposed position for the CTs to play from.
Ancient
Right now, I would say that if you get a Bomb plant on the A site you’re pretty much set for the post plant. It’s very hard for the CTs to retake on that Bombsite, unless you’re at a big disadvantage
Vertigo
If you plant there, you can pretty much cover the bomb from both Ramp and Wall. You’re also able to push forward and cover the Bomb from both Connector and Rafters. It’s a good plant with a lot of different options to choose from.
Also, when planting, make sure you have enough time for it as well as time to position yourself in a good post-plant position. Ideally you want to play and get away from the bomb before anyone sees you, but that can’t be guaranteed every time, so just keep on playing and improving your clutch expertise.
Hopefully this article helped you on your next clutch situations, or even on situations where you have more teammates alive and the plant spot might help you defend against that retake. Just remember that every round is different from any other, which means that the plant you’re going to try might be different, since the one you want might be impossible to do. Even a single Smoke can change everything for you when it comes to planting.
