There’s nothing quite like the feeling of securing a solo win in Fortnite, and having a good drop spot plays a crucial part in this path to victory. While we have been playing on the Chapter 4 island, code-named “Artemis,” for a few months now, there may be some areas you are still not familiar with. No worries, we’ve taken out the guesswork and are setting you up for success by sharing our favorite solo drop spots of Chapter 4.
When playing team game modes, such as Squads, landing in a spot with a plethora of loot for the whole team is essential. Named locations, such as Slappy Shores, offer the most chests, healing items, floor loot, and more. In general, the better a location's loot offerings, the more popular the area becomes, so inevitably, you will have to fight other players early on in the game when dropping at these spots. However, in solo games, you can only rely on yourself to earn the Victory Royale. You have no teammates available to help you eliminate opponents or to pick you up when you’re down. Landing somewhere on the outskirts of the map is the best way to ensure you don’t have to fight opponents off-spawn and can loot up to prepare yourself for the rest of the game. Of course, landing off the beaten path is not a guarantee you won’t encounter enemies, but the chance of this happening becomes lower the more remote the location.
If you are a player who loves to get right into the action, these might not be the drop spots you’ve been looking for. But remember, slow and steady wins the race. You can always move into a more populated area after looting and shielding up at one of these safer landmarks. Note that the Fortnite map is forever evolving, and the loot pool is constantly changing, so some items and landscapes mentioned in this article may vary in the future.
Far west of The Citadel, you’ll find a quaint castle atop a waterfront cliff, a landmark known as “Royal Run.” This location offers many enticing items and amenities, making it an excellent solo drop spot. Inside the castle, you will find Guardian and Holo chests and a few Slurp barrels to utilize for shield once you land. Along the waterfront, you will find rocks and stacks of wood to harvest, a vending machine that varies by game, and a boat in case you need to make a quick getaway. Along the bridge and the area leading up to the castle, you will find plenty of lumber to harvest, more chests, and motorbikes to swiftly reach the next zone circle.
Fittingly named “Exile Isle,” this island directly south of Faulty Splits has the perfect combination of items and weapons needed for a successful solo match. The small castle contains Guardian and Holo chests, which generally contain epic and legendary items to strengthen your loot. Can’t find keys to open the Holo chests? Check your augments for the one titled Keymaster. This augment allows you to receive two keys in your inventory that unlock the items in these special chests. Throughout the rest of this small but mighty island, you’ll find more chests, resources to harvest for materials, and vehicles for movement, such as boats and motorbikes.
Northwest of Lonely Labs, Crude Harbor is a shipment dock that not only makes a great solo landing spot but has enough loot for your entire squad as well. With two Slurp trucks to land on, you can instantly start the game with full health and shield. You’ll also find 17 chests, a few coolers containing fast heals, vending and upgrade machines, and a few vehicle options to transport you or the whole squad to the next zone. Flying solo and would like an extra hand? You can hire the NPC who guards this landmark, Aura, in exchange for some gold. With recent updates, we now have more control over the NPC’s movements, making them a helpful tool for combat. Worried she will give away your location? Select the “wait” option on the command wheel, and Aura will stay put. Use her as a decoy by selecting the “move” command or “dismiss” her altogether if she doesn’t cooperate as you wish.
Want to land somewhere closer to the action? Secluded Spire, located just a quick sprint away from three popular POIs, can be considered a “hotter” drop than the others on our list. Seated atop a slight hill south of Brutal Bastion, this landmark has everything you need to prepare for battle. With Guardian and Holo chests, Slurp and Slap Juice barrels, and even an NPC to hire or purchase a rocket launcher from, this location is the best spot to land if you want to loot up fast and move to where the combat is. If you are in the mood to have a more passive game, make your way down the river and take advantage of the natural cover provided by the cliff's edges, chests and coolers, and a large number of rocks to harvest for materials.
There you have it, our top four favorite solo landing spots thus far in Fortnite Chapter 4. By dropping at any of these locations, you will be ready to face whatever battles come your way throughout the game. We hope you try these landing spots the next time you jump from the battle bus and, hopefully, get a coveted Victory Royale!
