Tips on better synergy with your Jungler and better ganks.
You're losing your top lane and your Jungler, graciously, decides to help you out. What can you do in order for you and your jungler to benefit from a gank? What's going on in the mind of your Jungler and how can you better understand how he or she is ganking? Here are a few tips on how to make most of your Jungler's time.
1. It isn't about you
A Jungler has choices to make in order to get the game rolling. Most likely, your jungler is not going to gank you if you're losing lane. Sorry to be harsh. Instead, the jungler is going to choose to snowball a lane that is marginally ahead. It isn't that your jungler spites you and wants you to lose lane. Your jungler wants to win the game too. He or she is going to do make decisions on what he or she thinks is the best for a victory. Once you understand this, hopefully, you'll be less likely to tilt. When you're losing lane and the jungler is favoring mid who is snowballing then this would be the best time to itemize defensively. Your team and your jungler will be thankful.
2. Ward
Your jungler spends quite a bit of money on wards. Help them out and be proactive. The more your lane is warded, the less likely you will be ganked. You'll see the enemy gank coming and you'll have better timing on your enemy's wards as well. Timing your enemy's wards and where they are greatly helps your jungler in terms of his or her positioning. If it isn't risky, provide vision on your part of the map by deep warding in the enemy jungle. Jungle is a chess game and you're helping your jungler know moves ahead of time.
3. Don't push your lane
Better said than done I know. Unless you are a pro at jungling, chances of any average League of Legends player diving under a turret or in harm's way for a laner is very low. Sometimes the greed kicks in, but junglers do not want to risk their life for you. Not only is your jungler reluctant to gank, you are vulnerable to an enemy gank as well. Obviously, this tip isn't for every situation in every game ever. It's a generally safe way to play and it gives you and your jungler options.
4. Know your jungler
Pretty simple tip, right? If you know your jungler likes to farm more than gank then keep that in mind while you're laning. Be very aware of the enemy jungler if this is the case. Jungler likes to counter-gank? Keep an eye on him or her while they're on your side of the map. Help them out and maybe get a kill or two out of it. Jungler is a great ganker? Make it easier and efficient for him or her by warding, positioning, and engaging. Jungler loves objectives? Know that objectives are where most team fights happen and that's where all the kills are at. Knowing your jungler's pattern helps you help your team which helps you win. A bit of awareness of who your jungler is goes a long way.
5. Ignored? No ganks? Bad teammates?
What do you do when your jungler is less than helpful? You've done all of these tips, but your jungler is still not ganking or doing so well. Go back to tip 1. Take tip 1 and add on a mentality of not blaming others for the frustration. There's no quick patch for this. This game is going to be rough for you and it's up to you to take it on. The more you dwell in frustration and blame the more opportunities to win pass you. What can you do now that your jungler isn't ganking and losing? Focus on your lane and be aware of other team mates on how they are doing. Be proactive and plan on how you will help your team and carry. Easier said than done, but it's a sure way to prevent tilting and losing streaks.
Conclusion
Jungle is the role with the most potential to change the game. With three lanes and a jungle in mind, junglers could use all the help they need. If you get your jungler rolling, he or she can get other lanes and team mates rolling. Objectives will be easier and the team just comes together with a great jungler. It's crucial to be in communication with the rest of your team, but the jungler role demands more communication from each lane. But to be clear, much of the game is up to you and your attitude towards difficult situations. Sure your jungler is there to help, but never expect to be carried in a game.
