A Deck Guide - Worgen OTK Warrior: THE OG OTK

In this article, a decklist and brief guide and explanation of the Worgen OTK Warrior Deck will be provided.

One of the most fun styles of decks to play is a One-Turn Kill or “OTK” deck. The premise of the deck is to utilize a lot of card draw to draw a combination of cards that will lead to a kill in one turn, hence the term “one-turn kill.” The Worgen OTK Warrior takes advantage of cards like Charge and … in combination with Raging Worgen to deal a massive amount of damage in one turn.

The Decklist:

As previously stated, this deck is a combo deck, so many cards are used in conjunction with each other to accomplish the OTK combo. In this section, I will explain what each card does and what its purpose is.

Inner Rage: Simply enough it enrages your Worgen and increases its damage. It can also be used to finish off opposing minions or buff up a friendly one.

Blood To Ichor: This is used to help remove enemy minions and give you a small body on your side.

Execute: Obviously is used to finish off an enemy minion. It helps to have an idea of what larger minions your opponent’s deck runs so you know what to save it for.

Battle Rage: This is a very useful draw mechanic. You have several cards that can injure your own minions enough to be able to draw an extra card.

Commanding Shout: With this card, you can make trades that are far more favorable, because your minions will not die. It also allows you to draw a card so you can cycle through your deck and get to your combo faster.

Cruel Taskmaster: Another card to enrage your Worgen and increase its damage.

Fiery War Axe: One of the highest value cards in the Warrior class. A 3/2 for 2 weapon will help you deal with early minions and keep the board favorable.

Loot Hoarder: An early minion to help you cycle your deck faster.

Rampage: When used in the combo, it increases the combo damage by 6, but it can also be used on other injured minions in order to buff them up.

Slam: A useful removal card with conditional card draw. Helpful in getting to the combo.

Wild Pyromancer: Useful for dealing with aggro decks. You have a lot of low cost spells to proc the effect and clear a lot of small minions at once.

Acolyte of Pain: A great card for card draw. You have several cards that can damage it for additional card draw, but on average you should be able to get one or two cards from it.

Charge: One of the two most important cards in the deck. It allows the OTK combo to actually happen in one turn.

Raging Worgen: The other most important card in the deck. This is the minion that makes a “Worgen OTK” deck a “Worgen OTK” deck. The 3/3 for 3 with enrage windfury and +1 attack sounds pretty okay, but when you add all of the other cards in the combo, it truly can be a one-turn kill.

Ravaging Ghoul: 3/3 for 3 is decent enough, add in the ability to enrage a Worgen, clear enemy minions, proc an Acolyte of Pain, and so on and so forth, and you have a very versatile card.

Shield Block: 5 armor and drawing a card for three mana is great value and will help you draw into your combo as well as help you survive long enough to draw it.

Faceless Manipulator: One of the many ways to get more damage from your combo. If you are missing some cards to increase the Worgen’s damage, with this card you can just make another Worgen!

Emperor Thaurissan: This card works like magic in this deck. When you want to put together a large combo but it costs you 13 mana, a turn with this card in play can make it playable. It can make a world of difference.

Possible Card Additions:

Some cards that could fit the deck are the following:

Grim Patron: It is its own deck style, but there are lots of activators already in this decklist, so it could work as an additional threat or way to establish board control.

Frothing Berserker: Again, lots of activators and it also has a very decent combo with Charge.

Whirlwind: Another AOE spell to clear the board. Works well in conjunction with the already good Commanding Shout and Wild Pyromancer combination.

Matchups:

This deck has the early removal and potential to play the combo early on, so it does well against aggressive decks like Shaman and Zoolock. The main threats to the success of the deck are Control Warrior’s ability to stack armor and put you out of OTK range, or decks that run a lot of taunt cards, making it difficult to hit face.

The Mulligan:

Early removal and early minions are your friends. Blood to Ichor, Fiery War Axe, Acolyte of Pain, and Loot Hoarder are all solid cards to have early on. Against decks that will put out large minions early on, try to draw for an Execute.

The Win Condition:

Of course the win condition is your one-turn kill combination. You need to work to cycle through your cards to put together that perfect combination. Slowly whittle down your opponent and keep his board clear so you can be ready for that one-turn kill.

The Combo Possibilities:

All combos must have Worgen and Charge, with some kind of activator, typically Inner Rage or Cruel Taskmaster.

Worgen, Charge, and Inner Rage is 6 Mana for 16 Damage

Worgen, Charge, Inner Rage, and Inner Rage is 6 Mana for 20 Damage

Worgen, Charge, Inner Rage, and Rampage is 8 Mana for 22 Damage

Worgen, Charge, Inner Rage, Inner Rage, and Rampage is 8 Mana for 26 Damage

Worgen, Charge, Inner Rage, and Faceless Manipulator is 11 Mana for 32 Damage

Worgen, Charge, Inner Rage, Inner Rage, and Faceless Manipulator is 11 Mana for 40 Damage

And you understand the rest. If it is over 10 mana, it requires the use of Emperor Thaurissan.

In Conclusion:

This deck is pretty strong right now at all ranks and has a really fun win condition. It is not top tier, but it can definitely compete with the higher tiered decks.
