Best Upcoming Games in the Second Half of 2025

The second half of 2025 is looking exciting for gamers.

The second half of 2025 is looking exciting for gamers. Even in the next two months, September to November, many big titles are lined up across different genres and on all different platforms. Whether you love action, horror, role-playing, or strategy, there will be something worth playing. Here is a summary of the most exciting releases coming up before the end of the year!

Borderlands 4 (September 12)

The Borderlands series is famous for its over-the-top action and RPG-like gun and character building. Borderlands 4 developers promise even more fun with new locations, deeper character builds, and plenty of loot. While the drama behind Borderlands updated EULA and claims of spyware, Borderlands 4 remains a very exciting game with plenty of hype behind it. It is designed to be enjoyed both solo and co-op with friends. If you love fast shooting and humor, this will be a highlight of September.

Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion (September 5)

This game brings giant mechs back into battle. If you didn’t get enough mechs with Mechabreak, or PVP mecha games aren’t your cup of tea, Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion can be a fantastic choice. Players can customize their mechs and take on huge enemies in fast-paced combat. Titanic Scion builds on the style of the first game, but with bigger fights and more options. Fans of mechs action will want to check this out early in September.

Silent Hill f (September 25)

Silent Hill is returning with a new story set in 1960s Japan. This game focuses on psychological horror, atmosphere, and storytelling. Instead of constant combat, it leans into building tension and fear into gamers. With its unique setting and dark themes, Silent Hill f could become one of the most talked about horror games of the year as many of the previous Silent Hill games of the past.

Little Nightmares III (October 10)

This creepy puzzle-platformer is back with online co-op. Many hope that it will be a worthy successor for the other two Little Nightmares games in the franchise, both having received very high ratings on Steam and from critics. Players can team up with a friend and work together to solve puzzles while navigating haunting and strange environments. Little Nightmares III is short but powerful, designed to leave players with lasting memories of its eerie world.

Ninja Gaiden 4 (October 21)

Ryu Hayabusa returns in a new chapter of the classic action series. Ninja Gaiden 4 promises fast, difficult combat that rewards skill and precision, hoping to add another fantastic game to an already very successful game franchise spanning over many years, with the first Ninja Gaiden coming out in 1991!. The game stays true to the series’ roots while updating the gameplay for modern systems (and graphic fidelity). For players who love tough challenges and flashy moves, this will be a major release.

The Outer Worlds 2 (October 29)

This sequel expands on the original with more planets to explore, sharper combat, and new companion storylines. The Outer Worlds 2 continues the series’ focus on player choice and humor, giving fans a larger universe to shape through their decisions. Hopefully this time around, Obsidian Entertainment won’t have the same performance issues with its new game like they did with The Outer Worlds 1 which was plagued with technical issues. It is set to be one of the standout role-playing games of the year.

Europa Universalis V (November 4)

Strategy fans can look forward to Europa Universalis V. This grand strategy game lets players guide nations from the medieval period into modern times, shaping history through diplomacy, war, and trade. Europa Universalis is considered a competitor to Sid Meier's Civilization, which clearly failed with its newest release (Sid Meier's Civilization VII). Many fans of the genre hope that Europa Universalis V can succeed where Civilization failed. The new entry aims to be both more detailed and more accessible, so both newcomers and veterans can enjoy its depth.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 (November 14)

Another year, another Call of Duty game. Are you ready for it?! The Call of Duty franchise returns with a new Black Ops installment. This game will include the popular Zombies mode along with a campaign and multiplayer. As usual, it is expected to be one of the most played shooters of the year, offering fast and polished gameplay that is easy to pick up with friends.

Special Mention: Where Winds Meet (November 14)

Where Winds Meet is another game worth keeping an eye on. It is set in ancient China and mixes open-world exploration with martial arts combat. Players can roam freely, duel enemies, or even choose peaceful paths like becoming a healer or musician. The game offers both PVE and PVP combat with a battle royale mode (Naraka, anyone?). The game stands out for its beautiful landscapes and freedom of choice. The combat has been praised by those content creators that got to play the game and it looks like a very exciting game to look into, especially with it being free to play with a microtransaction store aimed to only focus on skins.

How to Plan Your Fall

September starts strong with a mix of action and horror. Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion arrives first, followed quickly by Borderlands 4, then Silent Hill f to close the month with a scare.

October is packed with variety. Little Nightmares III provides short but creepy co-op fun. Ninja Gaiden 4 delivers hardcore action a week later. By the end of the month, The Outer Worlds 2 will be waiting for players who want a long role-playing adventure.

November belongs to three very different games. Europa Universalis V will take strategy fans deep into history, while Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will dominate the shooter scene and give players a huge multiplayer playground. And of course, the same day, Where Winds Meet is released for an entirely different audience. Will it rise to the level of Wukong?! At least its free to try!

Other Games to Watch

Some titles do not have fixed dates yet but could arrive later in the year. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is one of them, and if it releases before 2026 it will instantly become one of the biggest games of the fall. Horror fans should also watch for other smaller titles that may join the season alongside Silent Hill f.
