Introduction

Many people, and hopefully you if you are reading this guide have wanted to be in a team in Counter-Strike. Some people find it very difficult to find a team, as they have problems fitting in or just plain can’t find the resources to enter one. With this guide however, I will make it very easy for you to enter a team and get into some tournaments and matches against other teams.

The easiest and most obvious choice to getting into a team is to assemble your friends, either from real life or online and create a team with them. This way is the easiest, as you probably all have chemistry together and know each other, therefore making it easier to get along and have fun. If you can’t get 4 other people to come and play in a team with you however, it makes it quite difficult to find people to play with. But, it’s actually very easy. There are many different websites and helpful forums at your disposal.

Useful websites

A great website for this is www.cevo.com. The forums are full of people looking for teams and vice versa with teams looking for players. All you have to do is sign up and check the forums that are flooded with people. You can even make one yourself and see if a team will take you in, most will give you a trial and if you perform well you will be included as a member. It’s not all about being a good player however, you need to have a good personality and let the game be enjoyable as well as helping your team, calling correctly and having fun while playing seriously. It may seem quite overwhelming but once you get comfortable you will get into the habit of having fun but winning at the same time. Another great feature of CEVO is that you can enter free scrims, scrims are matches between two different teams that are setup on their client. You can easily create, or join a scrim with the touch of a few buttons making it very easy for teams to go against each other and improve at the same time. Once you get in a team you will probably be taking part in some of these scrims.

Another great service is a website calledwww.csgoteamfinder.com. The title is pretty explanatory. You sign in through Steam in the top right and it will direct you to a page. If you’re looking for a team you will want to click on create a player post. Once you are on this page you will just fill out all the information needed and save the post. Now you will be out there and ready to find a team. Remember to make yours stand out, put some good point about your playing ability and don’t be afraid to put some things you aren’t very good at. If a team sees that you are honest they will care more about your application rather than somebody who lies and says they are the best at everything ever. Remember to always be polite and be nice to people. Nobody wants to play with someone who rages and gets angry at their team when playing. To look at teams, look at the front page and you will see the newest posts. Here there are teams that are searching for players, you can simply click on one of the team names and read about what they are looking for in a player and ways you can apply to them.

Personal help

With me personally when I used to play in some low level scrim teams there were a few things I looked for in a player. So I will write a few major issues here so you can understand what to do right and what to do wrong when playing in a team. The first thing you should never do when playing in a team is to get angry at the other players in the team, this will completely ruin chemistry and will make them want to kick you out. Another thing is to not think you are the best of all time, you are all there together and if a player is bottom fragging help him out, cheer him up and he will play better. Tell him that he is doing things right, do not shout at him or put him down more or he will play worse. Always keep morale high, make sure everybody is happy and ensure that they are all having a good time, there’s no point in playing the game and everyone being angry and/or bored. Become friends outside of the game as well, if you are all only there to just play the game then what is the point. Everybody in high level teams are all friends with each other outside of the game and all have fun doing other things as well. So keep it friendly, talk outside of the game about other things and just do what normal friends do. If you keep it strictly to Counter-Strike you’re going to have no enjoyment. And remember, the most important thing of all is to have fun, it’s just a game.
