You Shall Not Pass: A Guide on Holding B as CT on Cobblestone

Lock down B-site and crush your enemies with this guide on holding B on Cobblestone as CT.

Positioning is a huge aspect of CSGO, and learning how to position yourself in the best ways possible is important if you want to become a better player. In this guide I will show you several places you can stand when holding B-site on Cobblestone as a Counter-Terrorist, and explain how to rotate from B-site to A-site. Remember that it is important to use other positions after a Terrorist has spotted you in one position in a couple of rounds. This prevents you from being predictable and easy to kill.

Tell your teammates where you will hold before the round begins. This will get you to your position quickly and your teammates will hold someplace else. There are few situations in CSGO where two people is required in one position. Two people can hold the same place, but from different angles. If you do it right, you can create a crossfire which can lock down any enemy trying to take you down. In a crossfire you make it impossible for the enemy to focus on more than one enemy at a time, which will give you an easy kill as long as you have good aim.

When holding a site in CSGO, it is also crucial that you use callouts and tell your teammates where the enemies are. Knowing the names of the callouts is important if you want to do this. Knowing the names of the callouts also gives you the ability to tell your teammates where you will hold the site from.

Keep in mind that a lot of people call the areas different things, so after playing for a while, you have learned, or probably will learn what people call them. Source

Here are some key positions that you should know for holding B-site.

1. Long/Main:

By holding B-Long/Main like in the picture you have a good sight at what is going on Long and in Dropper, which gives you the opportunity to kill enemies in both of those places. This might be needed if the CT holding Dropper dies. If you don't want to hold both of them you can smoke off dropper and focus on Long. Remember to communicate with teammates and tell them where the enemies are. Long should also be smoked if you're holding with a rifle.

2. Chicken Hut

When holding Long from Chicken Hut, it is highly recommended to do so with an AWP. It is a great position if you use it well. You have cover to hide behind after every shot and the long range gives you an advantage if you are using an AWP. Just watch out for an incoming Molotov.

3. Dropper/Skyfall

This is a really good spot to hold from, but make sure that you don't get overwhelmed by enemies. Prepare to retreat but try to get a pick or two first. Use nades to keep enemies from rushing you. Throwing an incendiary grenade and then a smoke is highly recommended. One guy could also hold from Window to make it easier to get some frags in Dropper, but that would weaken your Long defense, so it is a risk but it might work.

4. Dropper from Window

There is basically only one place that you can aim at from this position, but enemies tend to peek there so you might be able to get a pick from this spot. It is easy to retreat from, just jump down to Connector and enter through B-Door to reposition.

5. Tree

Ask a teammate to boost you up on this platform that has a tree on it. The tree provides a little bit of cover, and the spot is very unexpected. This spot is very handy. It gives you a great overview of the enemies exiting B-Long and they are easy targets to hit. Remember that falling back and repositioning is very important to do after you have been spotted.

6. Under The Tree

This position if quite similar to the last one. The only difference is that you are standing under the tree, on the ground, behind the platform. This position gives you less overview as well as being less surprising, but that does not change the fact that it is very effective.

7. Dropper Boost

This one also requires a teammate. The boost is done on the piece of wood that is leaning toward the wall under Dropper. Boosting there will get you over the edge of Dropper and the ability to take down to Terrorists without them being ready for it. This can also be used to gain information. If none of the T's are watching Dropper, you can execute a perfect flank.

8. Statue

This is a very commonly used position. Remember to use the statue as cover whenever you need to as you are very exposed in this spot. You will have a very nice overview of B-Long/Plateau from here, so use the spot wisely.

Rotating from B-site

It is very usual to have three people holding B-site on Cobblestone as CT. Connector is a great passage from B-site to A-site. It gives the opportunity to execute a quick rotation and it is a safe place to rotate as you probably won't be exposed there. Be aware of the door though, enemies can spot you through the opening in the door if they are standing by the wooden wall near A-site. I would recommend having two people rotate through Connector and one person from Long, or through Dropper (that would require a boost). The person rotating through Long or Dropper will go through B-Tunnels and have a chance at flanking the enemies. This person should look for lurkers as well.

Having one person in Connector could also be smart, as that person can watch out for lurkers.

A-site

All of you can also rotate through Connector. If three people rotated through Connector, it will support the two others holding A with extreme manpower. If you do this, one or two might have two rotate back to B-site if the Terrorists decide to also rotate back to B. Keep that he Terrorists can also rotate in mind.

The options I explained to you should only be performed if your team is almost entirely sure that the Ts will try to plant the bomb on A-site. If it seems like the Ts will go A, but you and your team aren't sure if they will commit to A-site, you should keep two people on B. One in dropper and one on the site. One person should rotate through Connector as this is a fast way to rotate to A, and if needed, back to B. Doing this will ensure you that you will be aware if the Terrorists go to the B-site.
