In this blog we are going to take a look at essential Overpass T-side smoke executes for when it's only you and a friend.

THE B EXECUTE

A very easy and effective way to take B bombsite is to smoke Bridge and Site, and to use a molotov to clear Barrels/Toxic. This blocks all enemy vision from Graffiti, Pit and Sniper/Heaven, and also forces enemy players to retreat from their position at Barrels/Toxic.

The Bridge Smoke

For this smoke, line up on the dot near the back wall between Tracks and Alley. Vertically align with the left of the iron bars, and horizontally align with the top of the light post, and throw.

The Site Smoke

Walk into the corner at the back of Tracks, and place your crosshair as shown above. The vertical aim is slightly to the right of the middle post, and the horizontal aim aligns with the top of the right light post. This smoke is thrown with a running throw. Step forward and release immediately. Note: This smoke will not work while the train is passing. It will hit the train and bounce back. Listen for the sound of the train and time your smoke correctly.

The Barrels/Toxic Molotov

Hop up against the rail near Squeaky, and align yourself with the doorway as pictured above. Vertically align with the concrete pillar block, and horizontally with the top of the bridge. This grenade is thrown using a running throw. Step forward and release immediately, before stepping off the ledge.

THE A EXECUTE

By smoking off Bank and Trashcan we allow the site to be taken over without dealing with Rotates. This, along with a molotov in the ninja corner next to Optimus, is an effective way of taking over site A with only two players.

The Bank Smoke

Place yourself in the corner next to Connector as pictured above. Aim at the bottom right corner of the middle window, and jumpthrow. Note: Jumpthrows need to be consistent for the grenades to always land in the desired area. Practising the timing of jumpthrows or adding a jumpthrow bind to your config is necessary for consistency.

The Trashcan Smoke

Hop up on the chair in Banana, and align yourself with the middle bar as shown above. Place your crosshair on the head of the disabled sign, and throw.

The Optimus Molotov

Place yourself in the corner illustrated above. Aim at the windows above the truck and throw. This will land next to Optimus and clear the ninja spot.

NOTES

Keeping positions and weaknesses in mind while looking at strategies is essential. While executing strategies with two players is doable, it leaves more room for potential weakness than when executing with five players. Taking note of positions, plays and areas where this is common will aid in the success of these executes.

Jumpthrows are difficult and demand precision. An easy and legal way is to bind a secondary -attack (release) command to a key near your jump key, and press them together. Copy and paste the following into your config:

bind space "+jump"

bind v "-attack"

Now, when performing a jumpthrow, use your thumb to press both SPACE and V at the same time. This will yield consistent jumpthrows every time.

Notes About A

A Long is an extremely powerful defensive position, both for Counter-Terrorists defending the site and for Terrorists defending the after plant. Always make sure to clear A Long, and to position a player here once the bomb is down.

Often the Optimus molotov will cause the player hidden there to aggress. Be alert once you throw this molotov.

Players can jump spot behind the green boxes on Site. This is a highly effective position for Counter-Terrorists to gain information on Bathrooms and Short. Counter-Terrorists will also likely retreat to this area once they have been pressured, and throwing multiple HE grenades here could result in helpful frags.

Players can be boosted behind the van near Bank, giving them a great position from which to see Long and Bathrooms. Remaining aware of this position will minimize its effectiveness.

Notes About B

Illustrated above is a very powerful attacking position when those two smokes are down. By standing on the rail, a defender can see over the boxes and onto Site. Remain aware of this position to avoid surprises.

The Pit area is a common place for Counter-Terrorists to fall back to when these smokes bloom. Clearing the corners here and ensuring nobody is hiding should be priority once the smokes clear/bomb goes down.

Monster/Tracks is a powerful after plant position for the Terrorists. However, remaining aware of this position as a Terrorist is important, since a Counter-Terrorist who aggresses A Long might be tempted to rotate through T Spawn and enter B through Monster.

CONCLUSION

While executing is best done with five people who individually know their positions and grenades in the strategies, unfortunately this isn't always possible for many players. However, learning a few easy executes with a friend could be the boost you and your team needs to bring in more victories!
