TL;DR Overwatch Hero Lores

For those who are too lazy to read the whole lore!

We understand that reading all of the hero lores can sometimes be exhausting, but everyone is still interested in the stories. This is why we have prepared a TL;DR lores of all the Overwatch heroes just for you!

Ana (Amari) – Ana, the Bounty Hunter, was defending Egypt as an elite sniper for many years, all until she was believed to have been killed. In truth, Ana survived but lost her eye and chose to stay out of the world's growing conflicts. Nevertheless, she rejoined the fight to protect her family and country after some time.

Bastion (Siege Automaton E54) – Bastion units were originally created for peacekeeping purposes but were turned against their human makers during the Omnic Crisis. After the Crisis, this Bastion was damaged and forgotten. However, it later reactivated and now it harmlessly explores the world – all until it senses danger.

D. Va (Hana Song) – When South Korea was attacked by the Omnic, a massive construct, their government developed a mechanized armored drone unit called MEKA and needed professional gamer's reflexes and instincts to operate its weapon systems. This 19 year old now plays with MEKA to win at all costs.

Genji (Genji Shimada) – Genji was a disgrace to his ninja family, which is why his brother almost killed him when Overwatch found him and rebuilt his body in exchange for his help. He was transformed into a living weapon but could not come to grips with what he had become. Once he finished his mission, he left Overwatch and accepted his dual existence with the help of the omnic monk Zenyatta.

Hanzo (Hanzo Shimada) – Bowman and assassin, Hanzo is the eldest son of the Shimada family and was trained to rule its empire. When his father died, he was instructed to straighten out his brother and when Genji refused, Hanzo killed him (at least he thought he did). That act broke him and made him to abandon everything. Now he travels the world in attempt to restore his honor.

Junkrat (Jamison Fawkes) – When Australian omnium's fusion core was detonated, the land was transformed into irradiated wasteland. Junkrat is a Junker – survivor of the attack affected by radiation, mad about explosives. After discovering the secret in the bones of omnium, Junkrat left the Outback with Roadhog as his personal bodyguard, and is now on an crime spree.

Lucio (Lúcio Correia dos Santos) – Lucio started as a musician popular among his streets and ended up as a celebrity. When Vishkar Corporation aggravated the life of his neighborhood, Lucio stole their sonic technology to rally them to action – and succeeded. He is now filling arenas across the world and changing everything for the better.

McCree (Jesse McCree) - McCree was a part of the Deadlock Gang all until he was busted in an Overwatch sting operation. He chose to join Blackwatch (covert ops division of Overwatch) so he wouldn’t get locked away, where he started believing that he can make amends for his past. He’s later left the Blackwatch wanting no part in its infighting, and now only fights for causes he believes are just.

Mei (Mei-Ling Zhou) – Some time ago, Mei was a part of Overwatch’s eco-Watchpoint in Antarctica which was struck by a disaster only she survived. When she woke up from hibernation, she discovered the world in a huge mess. She now wanders alone hoping to re-establish the eco-network and discover the causes of the threats to the planet’s ecosystem.

Mercy (Angela Ziegler) - Before joining Overwatch in order to save as much lives as she can, Mercy was the head of surgery at the famous Swiss hospital. Although she was the head of Overwatch’s medical research, after it dissolved, she dedicaded herself to helping those affected by the war.

Pharah (Fareeha Amari) - Pharah’s dream was to follow her mother’s footsteps and join the Overwatch, but during her time in the Egyptian army, Overwatch disbanded. She now protects the secret AI research facility beneath Giza Plateau and still dreams of fighting a good fight and making a difference.

Reaper (Gabriel Reyes) - Although Reaper’s existence is a mystery, it’s believed that he is hunting down former Overwatch agents in order to eliminate them. The ones who survived his terrorism describe him as a black shadow ghosting unscathed through the most hellish battlefields.

Reinhardt (Reinhardt Wilhelm) - Reinhardt is a former Crusader, always defending the innocent and winning hearts. He was a part of the original Overwatch team that put an end to the Omnic Crisis, but in his late fifties, he was faced with the retirement. Now he's back in his Crusader armor and has vowed to fight for justice across Europe.

Roadhog (Mako Rutledge) - After the Omnic Crisis, Australian omnium was gifted to the omnics in hope of establishing peace. Mako was one of those who lost their homes because of this, and has turned to violent rebellion which resulted in destroying the whole place. Losing his home made Mako a Roadhog and his humanity is now completely forgotten.

Soldier: 76 (Jack Morrison) - Although Soldier 76 possess physical capabilities exceeding those of a conventional soldier's, his identity remains a mystery. He might be a former Overwatch agent, since his goal is to find those responsible for Overwatch's fall and bring them to justice.

Symmetra (Satya Vaswani) - Symmetra was plucked from poverty to become a light-bending architect, the one that will create new cities for India’s displaced population in the blink of her eye. The Vishkar Corporation, however, seen greater potential in her abilities, and had sent her on the global mission to uphold its corporate interests.

Torbjörn (Torbjörn Lindholm) - Torbjörn is a weapon designer and his mistrust of robotic intelligence helped a lot once the robot populations turned against their creators. He was recruited in the original Overwatch strike team, but after its fall, many of his weapons were stolen. He’s now determined to stop his creations from falling into the wrong hands.

Tracer (Lena Oxton) - Lena was the youngest person ever inducted into Overwatch's experimental flight program, but while she was testing a teleporting fighter the matrix malfunctioned leaving her molecules desynchronized from the flow of time. After a scientist Winston designed the chronal accelerator for her to control time, she became one of the Overwatch's best agents.

Widowmaker (Amélie Lacroix) - It's believed that Widowmaker was married to Gerard, an agent spearheading operation against the Talon terrorist organization, but Talon kidnapped her and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. Overwatch did try to return her to her normal life, but she soon killed Gerard in his sleep and returned back to Talon. Now she's his most effective assassin.

Winston (Winston) - The Horizon Lunar Colony tested the effects of space habitation on a group of genetically enhanced gorillas. Winston, named after the scientist Dr. Winston, had rapid brain development and was taught science. When the other gorillas led an uprising, Winston escaped to Earth and joined Overwatch. Now, he's longing for the days of heroism to return.

Zarya (Aleksandra Zaryanova) - Growing up surrounded by the post-war destruction, Zarya always wanted to help her people recover. She became a national athletics star but a new attack came to Siberia and her village lost again. She's now a part of the local defense forces and wants to use her strength to protect the ones she loves.

Zenyatta (Tekhartha Zenyatta) - After the Omnic Crisis, the monks sought to heal the wounds and bring humans and robots back into societal harmony by dogmatic teaching, but Zenyatta disagreed with this direction. He believes that interpersonal connection and engagement will bring humans and robots together, and has left the monastery in order to help everyone to find their inner peace.
