As you continue to climb the ranks in competitive Rocket League, you’ll find yourself wanting to see how you compare to players ranked higher than yourself. It’s often hard to find out how different the game is at higher ranks because, by the nature of the matchmaking design, you’re almost always playing people within a few divisions of your own rank. But playing against higher ranked opponents can help you and your team improve.

One way to play against other teams that take the game seriously and who play at a higher level is to join tournaments. No, we’re not talking about the tournaments found in the main menu. Weekly online tournaments are a way to find some great competition or just a change of pace from the ranked grind.

There are a couple of Rocket League tournament lists on the internet, but they are outdated, bloated, or simply unhelpful. The lists often include tournaments that have a season format that many players can’t commit to, and there’s no way to filter those out without investigating each individually. Additionally, many of the tournaments included on these calendars no longer run or the links to sign up are broken.

These factors can make the search for a tournament excessively frustrating. That’s why we compiled a list of consistent tournaments for NA and EU players with some introductory information to start competing in each.

ESL

For the ESL tournaments, use the provided link to find their website. Choose your region and sign up. You’ll and your teammates will need to create an account and sign up as a team.

• Sign-ups close one hour prior to the start of the tournament.
• Prize pools for the ESL tournaments are $150.

The ESL tournament is especially popular due to the possibility of earning an in-game title. Though in reality, only bubble professional players are likely to ever earn either.

Rivals Cup

The Rival Esports tournaments used to be for both NA and EU but are currently only open to EU players. To join, create an account at the provided link and sign up for the latest tournament.

• Sign-ups end a half hour prior to the tournament.
• The Rivals cup offers a prize pool of $150

Rewind Gaming

Rewind Gaming runs their signup through smash.gg, so if you and your team have accounts already, just proceed through the normal signup process.

Boost Legacy

To join the Boost Legacy tournaments, you’ll need to join their Discord server. Once that’s done, navigate to the “announcements” channel and keep an eye out for signup information regarding the next tournament. They provide signup links on the same day of the tournament in most cases. Registrations are held through smash.gg, so everyone on your team will need an account on that platform if they don’t already.

• Sign-ups close 20 minutes prior to the start of the tournament.
• Prize pool for the 2v2 tournament is historically $50, and the prize pool for the 3V3 is generally $30.

Reddit - Rocket League Clashes

Rocket League Clashes is a subreddit where individual tournament organizers post the details of upcoming tournaments for the Reddit rocket league community. You will see some of the tournaments we've already mentioned posted there, but you'll also see several other options that span all the game types. Many of these require sign-ups through smash.gg or toornament.com.

• Each of these will have different methods to signing up, but most provide detailed instructions in the main post.
• Many posts will offer prize pools of varying sizes, but not all. Expect higher competition for those with higher prize pools.
• Some of these tournaments require an entry fee, so be sure to read sign-up instructions carefully and—for Rocket League and general internet purposes—avoid giving credit card information to any website you don’t trust.

Rocket League Coaching Discord

RLCD is a huge community of Rocket League enthusiasts with a mission to help you improve. In addition to free coaching services and AMA's with community figures, they also host tournaments. While they are infrequent (once a month or so), they do offer a wide range of competition from the expansive community. The tournament playlists and team size vary. To join, just check the announcements channel on the Discord server for the latest news and follow instructions posted there. Registration is generally held through smash.gg.

• All teams must be registered 30 minutes prior to the start of the tournament.
• RLCD does not offer prize pools, but you do get recognized with a discord title in the server.
