Tips and Tricks Using Sage Effectively in Valorant

Tips using Sage to the best of her abilities!

Sage is one of the most powerful agents in the entire Valorant lineup and should be an essential part of every team. She has several abilities that can tilt the odds of winning in your team's favor, by stopping entire pushes blocking off an entrance to a site with her wall or slowing down a 5 man rush with her slow orbs. These two abilities in particular are the best zoning abilities in the entire game. Her Healing Orb is exceedingly helpful and can bring an ally back to full health from previously being an inch from deaths door, and her Resurrection Ultimate ability can revive a teammate and salvage a losing round. She is so diverse, without her in your lineup could mean that you are at a significant disadvantage.

First of all her Barrier Orb:

  • The wall has around 800 HP after the initial 400hp for 3 seconds.
  • The wall lasts for around 30 seconds.
  • The wall is damaged over time, but if it is damaged it won't change the amount of time it takes it to be destroyed naturally.
  • It seems to be about 140% of the player's height

Slow Orb:

  • Lasts around 8 seconds
  • Takes the shape of where it lands. When thrown on an open floor it seems to be around 7 meters wide in diameter but can expand in different ways depending on its surrounding.
  • The slow orb slows anyone who walks on it (normal walk) to around 40% of their original speed.

Healing Orb:

  • The healing range is pretty big, it is possible to heal your allies from across an entire site. So even if you're hiding behind different cover but still have a line of sight you can heal them.
  • You just need a momentary line of sight on ur ally to initially heal them and it will continue to heal them up to 60hp over the course of 5 seconds.
  • Healing stops the moment your ally takes any damage.
  • Self Heal has recently been adapted so that it now takes 10 seconds to heal up to 60hp, this is to disincentivize Sage from self-healing and make it more expensive to do so.

Resurrect (Ultimate):

  • Takes 7 Ultimate points before being available to use.
  • Very short-range.
  • Allies can be killed while in the resurrection animation.
  • Takes roughly two seconds for the resurrected ally to get back into a fighting position
  • Ally will be resurrected with 100hp

Tricks Using Sage's Abilities:

One of the most useful tricks that you need in your mental arsenal is the ability to use Sage's Wall around the bomb in after-plant positions. In these situations, you should use the wall to block the bomb off so the enemy can't defuse it without breaking the wall first or alternatively walling yourself off with the bomb for a safe and covered defuse to win the round. Both methods can be used on any map and can be used effectively in the majority of after plant positions. Both examples are shown below:

First preventing defuse:

Secondly Allowing Safe Defuse with Cover:

Another key tip for using Sage that can be used on most maps is blocking off doorways in a more effective manner. In-game you tend to see people putting up walls where it only takes one section of the wall to break through and allow the rush to continue, this is not very effective and will not help the team as much as you potentially could as Sage. See below how best to use the wall to help your team have the advantage.

In further guides to come, I will do more specific tips and tricks that are more specific for each and every map in Valorant. I hope this overall tips and tricks guide that can be used on any map helps you progress and master one of the most important agents in the game.
