DIG FBI Discusses the Meta and LCS
An interview with DIG FBI on the happenings in the Dignitas LoL team in Split 3 of LCS 2026!
Going into Dignitas’ second game of Split 3, we talk with Victor “FBI” Huang to discuss recent patch changes, Dignitas’ roster swapping, and more!
Our first question is about the current metagame: how are you feeling about mages and now even some assassins in bot lane with champions like Akali, Cassiopeia, Sylas, Viktor, and other formerly unconventional picks?
FBI: “I feel like mages are quite interesting in the bot lane. They can be fun to play initially, but I feel like the novelty kind of wears off. The reason they're being played so much is that jungler and support are too op, and especially with the catch-up XP, it's really easy to roam around. Influence lanes, especially support, and just have a mage clearing bot. I think that's why it's so strong. As for unconventional picks, I think it's just answers to the mage picks. I think with the next patch, the level cap being nerfed, we'll probably see less of it.”
Do you think the level cap nerf will help push them out of the metagame, or is it likely to remain kind of similar?
FBI: “I do think it's enough, just because in more recent games, more teams are going back to traditional ADCs to begin with. I think the changes coming in the future will be more than enough. We'll have to see. There will definitely be teams that want to play mages and play more towards top, but I think it'll depend on the team.”

I imagine ADC players also want to be playing ADCs mainly too and not playing all sorts of roles all over the place, though I’ll admit, seeing things like Diable [in the LCK] playing Aatrox against Ziggs was really fun.
FBI: “Yeah, I think it depends on the ADC. As I said before, it was fun initially, but the novelty wears off pretty quickly, especially when it becomes mage-mage bots, because it can be quite boring. After all, your team is likely playing towards the top side, and you're just on waveclear duty.”
Yeah, that's true. A lot of AD players aren't as proficient as mid laners at mages or assassins, so it's also a sudden burden to pick up enough champions for pro level.
FBI: “Yeah, for sure, I think the proficiency is not the same level as mid laners, but you don't need complete proficiency, just a certain level, and having it in your pool is always a good thing.”
The pressing question: you guys are now playing with Dardoch and Denathor, who joined at the start of summer. How have things changed so far? (Context: The interview was conducted prior to Dignitas’ first game playing with Dardoch this split.)
FBI: “I would say that Dardoch and Denathor have been good additions to the team; they bring different perspectives, and it's been easy to work with them so far. Obviously, with two roster changes, there are still growing pains, and we're just working through those growing pains.”
It's interesting, at least from an outside perspective, because nearly everything has changed - from the coaching staff to the roster. While I do think you guys know what you're trying to change, what do you think of the outside perspective that DIG as a team is doing the same usual DIG thing?
FBI: "Well, I can't really speak on the changes made in the past for Dignitas. I know the negative perception, but from the inside, I know both changes were positive for our team, and we're just going to have to prove that."
There have been significant improvements, even aside from how games have been going, thanks to your transparency through Jonathon explaining roster changes and doing the podcast. I think the players mesh well together too.
FBI: “Yeah, for sure, I think transparency is always key, connecting with the fans, and Jonathon's been doing a good job with that. I would definitely say so, the meshing part.”
Changing topics, by now almost every pro AD has played with the infamous Camille support doing the funny roaming thing and ditching the lane. So, how are you feeling as one of the many AD players so far who kind of just have to watch their support have fun around the map?
FBI: “Yeah, Camille is a very interesting champion. You have to make sure you get a lot of things done in the early-mid game as Camille because by the time late game rolls around, you're kind of just a suicide bomber, for lack of a better term. Playing versus Camille and playing with Camille, it's really important how the early and mid game goes.”
If I recall correctly, Denathor is a former Camille main, though Camille top hasn't been relevant for a while. Has the team ever considered playing it as a flex, or another similar pocket pick? (Fun fact: Denathor did end up playing Camille against DSG in game 2.)
FBI: “I can't speak too much on the pick ban obviously, but yeah, he's a very good Camille player, definitely an option up there.”
Fair, we can't casually reveal pick and ban strategies, but it's definitely the metagame for it right now with the patch being so flexible.
FBI: “Yeah (laughs), definitely agree, there's some funky stuff going on right now, flexing different champions in every role.”
From what I recall, you primarily played League in an internet cafe, where you got your Summoner Name from. But I'm curious what initially drew you to the game; was it playing with friends?
FBI: “Just my friends, yeah. My high school friends were playing the game, so that's basically how I got into it.”
Hypothetically, what would you have gone with as a summoner name if not FBI?
FBI: “Uhm, no idea, to be honest. It's been so long since Summoner Name creation that I don't really remember.”
And to finish, do you have anything to say to your fans and the fans of DIG?
FBI: “To the fans of myself and DIG, thank you for your support. I know there hasn't been much to cheer about in recent times (laughs), but I appreciate it nonetheless, and hope that we will do well on the split. Thank you for supporting us.”
