What makes a good eco spot?
A good eco spot is somewhere that will give you the best chance to win battles against better equipped opponents. However, as a Counter-Terrorist, it is highly unlikely that you will be rushing into the enemy unless you are backed up by your peers.
Area 1: The Bottom Floor
There are three ways to get down to these spots. The first way and safest way is to run down Ramp and go through the doors; however, this takes a long time and could result in the Terrorists beating you down there. The second way is to break the Vents and head directly down. And the third way is to rush into Secret from the outside, but this is a risky method as they can catch you outside. If one wants to play close to the stairs that connect Secret to the Tunnel, there are two excellent spots. The first one (pictured on the left) requires Terrorists to check that corner, and if you have a willing teammate, you can set-up a crossfire. As for the second one (pictured on the right), you can stand directly right by the stairs in the little pocket. If two people place these spots, it can also serve as crossfire.
Now, if you are seeking to play more conservatively and have some spare time to get set-up, there are some more spots on the bottom floor. For the third example on the bottom floor, there is a newly added spot on Nuke called "Decon". It's a lackluster area, but it allows people to plant behind the silo and retreat into the room. Playing this area can give a vital choice in how the round plays out if the Terrorists plant the bomb at the Bravo site. If they do, the Counter-Terrorist in Decon can slam open the door and fire at anyone on the base floor. Or, they can wait for the enemy to open the door themselves and surprise them. Because of this, it can mean an eco round lost or won. Finally, the last spot is inside Vents. If you want a preemptive notice to someone dropping down the ladder, find a different route down. If you break the Vents, you won't have a loud notice that someone is imminent.
Area 2: Outside
Another spot to hold on ecos is on the outside portion of the map. It is likely to be useful if the enemy team has a habit of running around the map for any reason or if you want to catch someone off-guard when they're looking for the last player. There is not much to say about these spots, other than they are VERY good at ambushing people because of their locations.
Area 3: The First Floor
The first one (pictured below, top-left) is at the corner on Ramp, although you can be easily flushed out with molotovs and high-explosive grenades. This spot is great if unchecked, obviously, because you can shoot them in the back. Another spot (pictured below, top right) is right in the entrance of Mini, but you remain exposed to Hut. If you have a teammate who plays nearby Hut, he can likely get the trade kill in the case of your death. Another regular corner that people play is right by the stacks of boxes on Ramp (pictured, bottom left). This spot requires the enemy team to peek widely into the right, but makes you completely vulnerable. Finally, a stellar spot is above Hut (pictured, bottom right). Any Terrorist(s) who tries to kill you has to peek up into the air to eliminate you, and this can also let your teammates support you from any area close to the door.
Area 4: Heaven and the High Ground
Playing in an elevated position means success because playing directly above them means the enemies have to aim high, giving them difficulties when trying to face their surroundings. In the left photo, it is similar to playing above Hut. However, this one gives an even greater advantage, because the platform covers you with its opaque and metallic appearance. If you have one of your peers play atop Hut and another one inside Mini, you are bound to have a solid hold on the A site during an eco. Also, if you are having issues with the Terrorists wrapping around the Catwalk outside to Heaven, the corner in the right image is something to utilize.
Conclusion
There are countless spots to play on de_nuke during an eco as a Counter-Terrorist, but with the areas mentioned in this article, you should have you the knowledge to win more of your eco rounds on this map. With the new seasons for CEVO and ESEA are coming up, all these areas mentioned are gold mines for stacking a bombsite during an eco. Or, if you're just playing in a PUG, you have some spots to boost up your fragging power during your save rounds.
