Welcome to another Gamer Blog! This week's gamer blog is about learning the basics of League of Legends.
In this week's gamer blog we are going to go over some basics for playing League of Legends. With that being said, lets drive right in!
So You Are a New Player:
So you are a new player! Welcome to the wonderful world of League of Legends! The question now stands "Are you new to this type of game? Are you kind of used to it? Or maybe you are a veteran to these types of games?" Well if you are the first two, this guide may not be exactly what you are looking for. However, please read it through and see if there is some feedback you can give or who knows, maybe you might learn something. For those who are new lets move onto the next bit of this guide!
This button will be very important to you. No matter what you do in this game, you will need to hit this "Play" button. This allows you to select a game mode. However since you are new what is best recommended for you are the tutorials that are setup by Riot. After you hit play, you want to go to "Tutorial" tab. I would highly recommend that you go to threw both the "Basic Tutorial" and the "Battle Training". I like the "Battle Training" mode the best because it teaches you some very important things you will need to know to be able to play with others players. In the "Battle Training" mode you only have access to 3 different champions: Ashe (Ranged / Attack Damage based champion), Garen ( Melee / Attack Damage based champion) and Ryze (Ranged / Ability Power based champion). You will have to pick one of these 3 to learn with. The "Basic Tutorial" has you play out as Ashe. So Ashe might be a champion that you are most comfortable using to go through this mode with.
So what kind of things can you expect out of the "Battle Training" mode? Lets take a quick glance at what you can learn
Lanes are very important for any part of the match. The bottom spawning point is the blue side and the top one is purple. As you can see by the image above there are 3 arrows down 3 different lanes. The one on the very bottom of the map or closest to the right is known as "Bottom Lane" or "Bot lane" for short. The middle lane is known as "Middle lane" or mid lane, while the one closest to the top or the left side of the map is known as the "Top lane". Depending on your team composition will decide which champion goes in what lane. The middle lane is ALWAYS a solo lane. To be solo means 1vs1 the other person in that middle lane. However sometimes that will change. How is this possible? It is called ganks! Sometimes a summoner will leave their lane and try to get a kill in another lane by pairing up with their team mates to accomplish this.
While you are in lane, it is very important to remember to last hit. This is very true for many champions, however there are some that don't actually need to last hit a minion. These champions are generally known as support champions. What happens is they will support another player in bot or top lane during the early game phase. The support champion will allow the other player to take all the last hits so they can get "farmed" up. To be farmed up, means you have had a lot of minion kills and a lot of extra gold from killing them. This also means you should be able to afford more expensive items, much faster. After a certain point in the game, support champions make take some creep as well, to help them with getting items for their own build order.
Earning Exp is very important. However sometimes it is very hard because the opposing team is doing their best to deny you that ability. So it is very important that you remember to be within range of your minions, if you can. One of the best things you can do for your team is to remember that League of Legends is a team game and to try to not die. The object of the game is to kill them, their turrets and their nexus. If you can do that - you win. ^^
Speaking of turrets, it is very important to note that any turret that is not an allied turret will hit you if no minions are around. However this will change if you hit a champion that is allied to that turret and you are in turret range. If you do attack a champion near their turret, the turret will switch its target off a minion and onto attacking you. Turrets hit very hard, so do try to avoid taking damage from them, if you can. The picture above will show a decent view of the what is turret range. If that Ashe player were to turn and run away from the tower and the enemy champion, they might be lucky enough to get away without taking a hit from the turret.
There are many more things to learn from these guides and I think you should check them out, regardless if you are a new player or not. In future gamer blogs, we will be breaking down some game play of champions for players of all skill levels. So please make sure to look forward to that! Well guys, that wraps up Gamer Blog #8!
