How to play off your Entry Fragger

In this article I will be covering how to assist and play off your Entry Fragger.

To begin with, you may be asking what is an Entry Fragger? Well an Entry Fragger is someone on the Terrorist side who will be taking the first few duels of the round in hope to get a kill and 'entry' the round. This person may require space and his teammates around him/her, I will go through these in this article.

Trading

It's simple really, le'ts break it down. I'm going to be using Dust2 long as an example for the purpose of this article. To begin with, when your entry fragger is going to entry long or pretty much anywhere in the map, you must be very near to him when he goes for the initial pick, but you must not be close enough so you're not lining up for the enemy or shooting him in the back of the head. The purpose of this is simple, to trade. Trading a kill means if he dies you kill the guy that killed him/her which is an even trade. This is so he doesn't die for no reason, but do remember the purpose of the entry fragger isn't always to get the opening frag, it can be to simply get the info or be traded so you guys get an early advantage. As a Terrorist, gaining a 4v5 early means the CT's have to spread out more, this is very advantageous and is why you should use your Entry Fragger correctly. This also applies to if you're entering a site after doing a smoke execute or an execute of some sorts, stay close but not too close, so you can trade off him.

I will go over some pictures to articulate what I'm trying to say.

Now as you can see, red circle represents the Entry Fragger and blue represents the three main locations a CT will play aggressive long. I have highlighted which duels he/she is most likely to take in order, this can change depending on many factors ingame. Anyway, the way you want to play off him is to give him as much space as possible, not so much you're split apart but enough to have some freedom of movement. As my arrows symbolize in the third and first pictures, you also have to respond to what he/she is doing, for example if he/she is peeking the left corner at blue to check it, you must peek to their right or hold the corner where the CT's peek in the second picture. The reason you want to do this is because he/she can only be focused on one spot at a time, so he/she places their trust on you to cover their back. So to conclude, one way you play off him/her is to respond to what he or she is doing, if he or she peeking left, you peek right, if he or she is peeking a corner in blue, you keep pit and so on. There is a lot of importance to the 2nd man in, he or she essentially dictates how effective you guys will trade and how impactful the entry fragger will be.

Information

Another way to play off your Entry Fragger is use him or her as information bait. When its getting late into the round and you have gathered no information, a good call is to try and get an entry at the same time but if you can't, get the information. For example, you are in a 3v3 situation and you want to know how many players the CT's have placed on a certain bombsite, you send your entry fragger in and you have two options here if he or she dies.

  1. Stay close to him and instantly trade as you know where the CT's exactly are due to him getting the information and proceed to take the site.
  2. Fall off this information if it's a stack on a certain site or if you will face an unadvantageous duel and hit the other bombsite

So as you can see, another way to use your Entry Fragger is to receive information, sadly I could not find a short video to show you this but hopefully I communicated it clearly.

How can I help my Entry Fragger?

The best way to help your Entry Fragger is to pretty much flash him in. The reason why you want to flash him in is because it makes his job a lot easier, flashing him in allows him to potentially get 2-3 kills depending on what you're taking and how many CT's are there. This is because the CT's will probably be blind which means he doesn't necessarily have to worry about getting into an unfair gunfight. Talking about advantages, a flash puts him into a very great position and neutralises any crossfires or sneaky stacks CT's might of setup. So make sure you learn your popflashes as it can help.

Thank you to Corix for the video. Link to the video.

This popflash in the video shows one pretty simple flash that can completely neutralise an AWP'er or someone holding that angle, this makes it easier for your Entry Fragger to kill the CT, as they are blind, but if they can't kill the CT at least it forces the CT back so it allows a free entry onto long A.

Summary of the points in this article:

  • A way to help your Entry Fragger is to flash him/her in.
  • Learn your popflashes
  • Keep enough space so you're not blocking or restricting your Entry Fragger
  • Make sure you stay close so you can trade off him
  • Respond to what he does, so if he/she peeks left, you peek right so you are constantly covering his/hers blind side
