How to unlock all agents in VALORANT

This guide explains how to unlock agents in VALORANT.

Riot Games’ new tactical shooter named VALORANT has been breaking viewership numbers and got everyone fighting for a closed beta key. Just getting into the game, however, doesn’t mean players get to instantly play who they want.

Unlike Overwatch where all the heroes are unlocked for every player, VALORANT has a system more similar to League of Legends. Players get to start with a smaller agent pool and then build in-game experience to unlock others.

Unlocking VALORANT agents

New VALORANT players start the game with five agents unlocked, including Brimstone, Phoenix, Jett, Sage and Sova. But the game features a lot more than just five agents, meaning you’ll have to work hard to unlock the rest.

To League of Legends players, this is a well known system. In order to unlock an agent, players need to collect experience. And what other way to collect XP other than just playing the game could there be? It’s a fairly simple system. Play games, earn XP, level up and you'll be rewarded with the ability to recruit a new agent. You can do so by picking “Agents” under the “Collection” tab in the client.

Besides, you will also get two free agent rewards simply by leveling up your account. The reward comes as a token that can be redeemed for any agent from the pool. If you’re willing to spend a nice sum of money on VALORANT, though, an option to purchase agents with real money is available too.

How to pick which agents to buy?

There’s one big step ahead in the system of unlocking agents in comparison to what Riot has set up for League. While League players have been frustrated with the fact they aren’t sure if they will like a champion before they buy it and spend their hard-earned experience on, VALORANT players won’t have to struggle with this.

Namely, Riot implemented a training feature that allows players to try out every agent before they make a decision to unlock them. With the training mode, you get the opportunity to see if an agent feels good underneath your hands, so the answer to the question of which agent is best to buy is purely in your hands! Head to the training mode, try all of them out, and pick the one that suits you best!
