Kargath Mythic analysis and Mechanics explained

Hello and welcome to a brief guide and explanation to the Kargath Bladefist encounter on Mythic difficulty.

New Mechanics

I’ll start by mentioning the new mechanics added in mythic difficulty, the first one is Flame Gout and happens every five seconds while there is an active Firepillar in the arena. This creates a swirly orange marker in-game showing that there will be a something landing on the ground, obviously this is something that you shouldn’t be standing in and the amount of swirly markers are dependent on how many active Fire pillars you have up.

Our approach was to have no more than one up at the same time, this means you need to run the boss into the Fire Pillar instantly as soon as he does Berserker Rush.

The second new Mechanic is that the tigers in the pits are released every minute or so and only one at a time. This is your main way to get favor, but I will get to that part in a minute. These tigers are really healthy so you will need ranged DPS to swap to them ASAP while looking out for the mechanic that the tigers bring into the arena which is called “On the Hunt”.

Not going to make this mechanic overly complicated. It’s basically a fixate that oneshots you and to stop the tiger you need, just like with Kargaths berserker rush, to run the tiger into a fire pillar. This will not consume the pillar and is why you always want to have one pillar up, the only relevant thing we could find out about tiger spawn was that it would come right after Chain Hurl almost every time.

The third new mechanic for Mythic difficulty is the buff called “Roar of the crowd”. This is basically a way to make sure that you can follow tactics and still get the DPS to kill the boss, with target switches and people jumping into the stands you miss out a lot of valuable DPS and that’s why this mechanic exists. It’s a nice buff but isn’t, in my opinion, what makes or breaks the fight.

How you get the buff stacking is by running a tiger into a pillar or by keeping Kargath in berserker rush for as long as possible, now we ran him into the pillar immediately because we did not think the favor was that great but 3-5 seconds is still a big favor boost but we didn’t want to risk a DPS dying. Keep in mind that BoP for paladins nullify the effect and can be a cheesy way to keep the boss in Berserker Rush longer. If you lack dps you need to coordinate and make sure to increase the time from 3-5 seconds to maybe 7-10 seconds.

The third and fourth new mechanics in the encounter are both related to the crowd itself, make sure your best DPS go up to the stands every time, the new mechanic “Heckle” reduces your favor by insane amounts for every Bileslinger and Bomber that is in the stands, have a fast DPS that can remove slows like a rogue run to one side and FoK the crowd while the tank taunts the furthest one on the other side, AoE hard to kill the Bileslingers and Bombers ASAP, also kill as many grunts as possible because killing them awards you with Favor.

With all this in mind the fight is the same as in Heroic or Normal difficulty, tank boss, swap on impale, make a group of 3 DPS+1 healer that always goes up, preferably with good AoE.

The Team

Our group consisted of 1 Resto druid, 1 Combat Rogue, 1 Hunter and 1 enhancement shaman this is ofcourse up to you we found out that the Rogue could grab a whole side of grunts with just using Evasion and sprint every time greatly increasing our favor. The Raids healer team consisted of 2 Paladins, 1 Shaman, 1 druid and 1 Priest. We wanted to try out the BoP thing but after to many mess ups we focused on other things. For tanks we used a Brewmaster and a Paladin, because we have no other tanks.

I didn't want to post a complete A-Z guide on how to do the fight because it's very much dependent on your raids performance to get more favor or not.

More mechanics explanation to come as we kill more Mythic raidbosses, I hope you enjoyed and good luck in Highmaul!
