Let Me be Your Lifeline: A Beginner's Guide on the APEX Legend, Lifeline

As we charter in to the unknown world of APEX Legends, today we take a deeper look at Lifeline. Here's a guide about the support legend i

I’ve never been much of a fan of the Battle Royal game genre, I guess it never had that something that clicked with me. But when I heard and saw some streams of APEX Legends and how it brought classes and skills into the mix, I knew this was much more down my alley. In any team-based online game, I tend to gravitate to the roles that serve to heal and protect. I consider supports and tanks to be the backbone of any team and without them, finding a victory can result rather complicated.

When it comes to APEX, I would dare say that Lifeline, the main support character available as of now, is the strongest legend with the most useful skill kit that every team should make sure to bring in any match. With that introduction, let's dive into Lifeline, her skills, and how to use them to ensure your team's survival and increase your chances of victory.

Skills:

Combat Medic (Passive Ability)

Lifeline’s passive has two functions. Its first function is that Lifeline uses healing items 25% faster than other legends. Due to her faster reviving and other support abilities (that we will cover later on), when playing Lifeline ensuring your own survival is vital, making your use of healing items to keep in top shape crucial.

Its second function is that she can revive downed allies faster than any other legend while also deploying a partial (yet large) shield that provides cover during the rescue. In a Battle Royale based on three-man squads, a man down is a clear disadvantage. That’s why any Lifeline player should always keep close to her allies and be the one going for the revives whenever it’s safe.

D.O.C. Heal Drone (Tactical Ability)

The D.O.C. (who I’ll call DOC for the rest of this article) is an immobile healing drone that will heal you and your allies whenever you are in its range. The DOC has a rather large cooldown time of 60 seconds, but it stays on the field a good amount of time providing consistent healing to those around it. The reason I consider this Tactical Ability as the strongest in-game is that you normally have to use items to heal and you are unable to shoot or run while the item is being applied. The DOC will heal you while you can still focus on applying damage or supporting your teammates, making it a strong tool to have in your kit.

Care Package (Ultimate Ability)

Lifeline can call down a care package that can provide healing items, high-level armor, or high-level weapon attachments. Each care package brings 3 items and can be very useful in the early stages of the game, especially if you were not lucky with looting early on.

This skill is very powerful but always make sure to be aware of your surroundings when using it, because anyone can see it drop and steal your loot turning this advantage into an instant disadvantage.

Tips:

  • A care package is a great tool to upgrade your team ensuring high-level defensive items with every use. Make sure to use it every time it’s off cooldown, but always be aware of your surroundings as it can attract enemy squads.
  • If you or any of your teammates find an Ultimate Accelerant, give it to Lifeline! Each Accelerant gives a 20% ult charge and each care package will make your team stronger.
  • Your care package is a huge object, use it to your favor. When out in the open and being shot at by an enemy team, you can drop your care package and use it as cover. If you throw it towards your enemy (but a lot closer to you) you can rush and close the distance while also stacking up on armor and healing items.
  • Always position yourself correctly before starting to revive a downed ally. Your shield is big but will block all incoming damage from the angle you are facing. If your ally can drag him or herself towards a wall you can virtually block all damage unless the enemy rushes you head on!
  • Whenever possible, make sure to throw your DOC right before starting to revive an ally. This will help keep you alive and also provide instant healing to the ally you just brought back from the dead.
  • Last but not least, due to Lifeline’s healing and faster revive speed, she should always be up and ready to support her team. Make sure to give her strong armor, it will prove to be a smart choice when big fights come up and she can withstand damage while providing a revive or fending off approaching enemies.

That’s all my insights on Lifeline for now. Till the next time, happy gaming!
