Match Preview: Team Dignitas versus EnVyUs

Match preview for the final match day of ECS Season 3

We are approaching the final week of Esports Championship Series Season 3. After seven weeks and sixteen games the roster has shown a lot of potential but it has proven to be too short of a time to prepare for the level of competition present. However, there is still a chance for team to escape the clutches of relegation.

As it currently stands, the team is one win away from both VP and Godsent. Were both of them to lose 0-2, which is possible considering their form and their opponents (VP vs. G2 & Godsent vs. FaZe) and Team Dignitas winning 2/0, we would secure our place Season 4. If the same would happen but Team Dignitas was only able to take one map off of EnVyUs, we would be tied with both VP and Godsent and the ECS tie-breaker rules will determine which position we end in. One thing remains for sure, to stand a chance the team must take at least one map off of EnVyUs.

Team Dignitas will face off EnVyUs on June 8th at 17:00 CEST
(The table is based on the results of week 7)

Game Preview and Predictions:

As highlighted, Team Dignitas must beat EnVyUs on at least one map, so it is important for the guys to bring it their all. The unnerving factor coming into this matchup is the fact that EnVy had a surprisingly good run in the recently finished ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals, making it out of the group stage.

Train has undoubtedly been the best map for EnVy recently and it has been a pain for us to play on it. EnVy has played on Nuke and Inferno evenly but they have had far less success on Inferno than Nuke. The only logical choice for EnVy, unless they wish to practice on a different map, would be Train. On the other hand, both the aforementioned Inferno or Mirage would be great choices for Team Dignitas as those have been the two weakest maps for EnVy. They have only played on Mirage three times recently and they lost all three games, while Mirage has been our second most successful map and our most played map. Rubino can also opt for Overpass for the surprise factor as it has also been a good map or Cache if the roster feels confident in their aim.

Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom is the one to look for on the side of EnVy, being one of their most skilled players sitting at a 1.11 HLTV rating, which is significantly higher than any other player on EnVy. Their second player is Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, the former CS: Source player. He had a dip in his form late 2016 but has been steadily climbing back up and currently sits at a 0.98 rating and is the second highest rated played on EnVy. Jørgen "cromen" Robertsen and Ricardo "fox" Pacheco have been leading the charge in the terms of rating for Team Dignitas with 1.08 and 1.03 ratings respectively, both higher than RpK. The odds are good for Team Dignitas but, with the lack of play time together and the potential explosion that Scream or RpK can create, anything can happen in the upcoming game and it will definitely be one of the most interesting games of the season.
