New Nuke, New Strategies: Ideas For Your Terrorist Game

A look at a few strategy ideas for the T-side on the remake of de_nuke.

In the Operation Wildfire update, de_nuke was reworked to make it less favourable towards the Counter-Terrorists. As a result, the Terrorist side of affairs has seen a bit of a rework; here are some initial ideas for you to use in your matches.

The A-split

Three players push from Hut/Squeaky direction, whilst two players flank from outside. This requires two smokes to be thrown outside.

- Smoke #1: Garage

This blocks off any Counter-Terrorists playing in Garage. The first thing you'll want to do is line yourself up with the gap in the fence gate shown below, and then aim where two specific points on the silo line up - this doesn't have to be exact - and do a standard throw. This will then smoke Garage off, allowing Terrorists to safely peek Outside.

- Smoke #2: Heaven

This is used to block vision from Heaven, to allow the three Terrorists exiting Hut/Squeaky to enter the site without having to worry about as many angles; any CTs that do push through the smoke will be in an exposed position without any cover. This is thrown by the other Terrorist playing outside, from on top of the large (and much easier to access!) silo. Line yourself up with the mark shown below, and aim for the edge by the dome above the A bombsite, then perform a normal throw. It's a little bit of an awkward smoke, but can definitely be adjusted to land further forwards or further back - you'll need to play around with it for personal preference. Once these two smokes are thrown, the Terrorists positioned outside can either flank through Mini, or round to Heaven via the gangwalk:

For those entering the bombsite from Hut and Squeaky, there are a couple of pop flashes they can throw which can aid a push into the site.

- Flash #1: Hut

This will flash any Counter-Terrorists looking towards the exit from Hut, and can easily be thrown. First, push yourself into the corner in 'Forklift' (a.k.a. Lobby), and position yourself on the edge of the sign. Then, line yourself up between the A-site sign and the corner of the hatch. Run forward slightly and throw:

A similar popflash can also be thrown slightly closer to Hut. Line your crosshair up with the edge of the far wall, and stand parallel to the ladder going to T Roof; then place your crosshair in line with the tip of the arrow on the bombsite sign. Again, run forward slightly and throw. This pops slightly deeper into the site:

- Flash #2: Squeaky

This will flash all the Counter-Terrorists that are watching Squeaky/playing close to Squeaky. It will not flash those playing deeper in the site towards the plant area. It's thrown off the edge of the blue door, and bounces into the site. Push yourself into the corner below, and do a normal throw. This flash does not land deep enough to flash the entire site, instead just those who play close to Squeaky.

On a side note, when pushing Squeaky quickly, it is usually a good idea to throw a HE Grenade in its direction, to literally blow the door off its' hinges. There have been crates put in place in the newest version to try and stop this, but a well aimed HE should still work:

Taking the B-bombsite

This is an updated version of the traditional Outside-wrap-around down Secret and through to B. It is often accompanied by a push through Ramp. Here are the smokes you'll need.

- Smoke #1: Garage

This is the same smoke as discussed in the A-split section at the top of the article.

- Smoke #2: Outside Heaven

First, line your crosshair up with the left edge of the Danger sign on the chainlink fence. Then position it so it lines up with the details shown below, and do a normal throw. This will land on the corner of the gangwalk. There is slight room for inaccuracy here, as long as you're correct vertically:

- Smoke #3: Locker Room

This blocks off vision for any Counter Terrorist playing in Locker Room. You'll want to position yourself at the same spot by the Danger sign as last time, but this time line your crosshair up with the edge of a panel on the silo, and the edge where the railing and a beam on the dome coincide. Perform a normal throw. There is little room for inaccuracy here; you must be very precise horizontally or this smoke will occasionally have a slight gap that a CT player could use to gather information.

There is an alternative set of smokes here - credit to Reddit user /u/Mitchjdep.

Once these smokes have all been thrown and the Terrorists have safely crossed over to Tunnels, they can throw a variety of popflashes to aid their push into B. All flashes shown are regular throws.

- Flash #1: Decon

The first flash is from the newly added area, 'Decon' (short for Decontamination). Push yourself into the corner between the wall and the red crate, and aim at this area on the sign:

- Flash #2: Window

Another flash that can be useful is to flash any Counter-Terrorists watching the main doors from Dark Spot/Window. Push yourself into the far corner of the Tunnels, then place your crosshair on the edge of one of the ceiling vents. This will instantly flash anybody playing the close angle looking down the stairs:

- Flash #3: Ramp

Finally, Terrorists often like to co-ordinate a B-push by sending some players towards Ramp. Whilst this can be a difficult area to take, there is one nifty popflash that can be used to flash the majority of the CT's area. You'll need to line yourself up on the floor tiles in the newly named 'Trophy Room', and then place your crosshair so it is lined up with the background and the glass window. Then do a normal throw, which will flash anybody playing close to the doorway as well as anyone on the boost spot in the corner. It will also catch any CT holding from the back of Ramp by the boxes (this is difficult to see in the picture below, but you get the idea):
