Top 5 Compounds on Erangel with DIG Adam

We've asked Adam from #DIGPUBG to give us the 5 best compounds on Erangel!

Erangel, the original PUBG map, remains a very important part of the game even though new maps are being developed to make the game less monotonous. Erangel is still the map that is mainly played by the pros, and the tactical positions it offers include both structures and the environment that the map is famous for. We decided to ask Adam "Adam" Didiano from #DIGPUBG about his top five compounds that you can use on Erangel to solidify your position and gain the advantage over your opponents. This top five has been constructed with Adam's knowledge of the game - with that being said, let's get into number 5!

5) South Pochinki Compound

These four buildings located near the southern coastline of the northern island are a great spot because of the vision you have looking at the field to the west of these buildings (long-range weapons/scopes are heavily favoured) and the cliffs to the east. It's easy to park a larger number of vehicles here since they'll be covered from most angles due to the density of the buildings' placement.

You can also move up north on foot if you need to, since you'll have cover from the trees and your high ground provides an advantage over the enemies passing across the fields.

It's definitely recommended to loot in Pochinki due to it being an easy rotation (Ferry Pier is also an option but a less popular one by quite a margin) but the buildings located in this compound's area won't satisfy your needs when it comes to collecting gear for more than one squad member.

Almost every spot, even the South Pochinki Compound, has its weaknesses. The compound is quite large making it difficult to hold against aggressive opposing squads crashing and focusing on one of the four buildings. To ensure your plan works out, make sure your number one priority is defending your vehicles so you aren't caught off-guard when the circle shifts south, east, or west.

4) South Gatka Compound

As you've probably noticed, something that's very important to consider with every compound that you occupy is the amount of vision it has around your area. The South Gatka Compound has roughly 300 meters of vision in every direction and is almost impossible to push. The compound is smaller than the last one we covered but that's only an advantage since your own squad will be less scattered across the different buildings within this compound.

With planning ahead and the circle ending here, it's quite easy to come out on top since it's a very dominant position to catch enemy players off-guard when they're rotating and it only gets stronger the later you go into the game!

You can quickly rotate to this compound from looting spots like South Georgopol and other compounds located on the western coastline, but make sure that you have vehicles since higher level players will not let you run across a field without cover!

There's no real disadvantage when it comes to choosing which building inside this compound to occupy - even the shack outside is useful for spotting the hill to the west! (Having a sniper in your team can also prevent the enemy from hard peeking.)

3) South Severny Four Houses

The four houses located directly south of Severny come in at number 3 with the option to split 2-2 on each side of the road and the lack of cover in the fields around this compound (except for the west side). The vision that you gain when you've taken position into one of these four houses is insanely high, as only the hills can act as cover for approaching enemy players. That's also why the best method of holding this compound is having one player in each building, since that will give you the most vision and you'll be able to help out teammates by shooting enemies that are in their blindspots.

This compound is also directly located on top of a T-junction making it easy to kill players that are rotating out of Severny, Shooting Range, and the western Yasnaya Compound with or without vehicles. You can also keep your own vehicles safe due to how difficult it is to get an angle between the two buildings you're positioned in. You'll still have to defend them though!

The image above showcases one of the two angles where you can spot every vehicle that's between the buildings. The other angle is at the opposite side of the position that this screenshot has been taken but both angles require you to stand in a completely open field.

Looting spots that correspond with this compound include Zharki, Severny, and Rozhok. Keep in mind that this compound isn't always in the circle but it is still advantageous to take when the circle has landed anywhere near the northern part of the map. If you rotated from Rozhok and you haven't been near Severny, make sure to not act carelessly since there's a high chance that opponents can also rotate to this compound.

Compounds like this one are extremely good when played correctly but you need to always keep in mind that some advantages can act as a double-edged sword. If you lose your vehicles and the circle shifts anywhere but west, you're likely to get taken out. You'll need to travel anywhere from 300 to 500 meters depending on the direction that the circle went so taking precautions doesn't hurt at all.

2) Eastern Alamo

This compound is great because it's basically in the middle of nowhere. Similarly to the number 3 on this list, you have a lot of vision towards every side except the northern part due to a hill that's relatively nearby. There's a central blue building that you can use as an alternate escape route to heal up or revive knocked teammates but the walls around the central building make it a very powerful spot to hold. Enemies that try to push on foot can be taken out from a distance so it's crucial to have weapons that are viable at a longer range (DMR's, SR's and AR's) but when they try to crash your defense by aggressively attacking with vehicles, it's also heavily favoured for the defenders' side.

In a scenario where they come through one of the two openings in the wall and crash against the central building, they'll be left exposed while they're exiting their vehicle(s) if each of your squadmates has taken a different position in the compound.

The enemy won't have line of sight on the wheels of your own vehicle(s), but, if they want to, they can always try and blow up the vehicle from the top since the wall that covers you and your vehicle(s) isn't tall enough. You'll most likely get shot by other players from the northern hilltop and it's important to consistently observe if someone's peeking and not hesitate when you've spotted an enemy. SRs can help you prevent players from hard peeking since you can take off their helmets quickly even if they're just briefly peeking. This also indirectly gives the enemy less information about the position of you and your squad members.

1) East Georgopol "GOD" Compound

Coming in at number 1 is the compound located directly east of Georgopol's harbour having vision over the grand total of 4 T-junctions. Adam also chose this spot over the others covered in this article since they share similar features, but the East Georgopol "GOD" Compound is superior overall when it comes to the quality and quantity of features.

Adam mentioned all of these advantages when it comes to this particular compound:

• This compound has guaranteed vehicle safety because of the flat top garage enclosure.
• There's only flat land around this compound, meaning that people are forced to rotate here and it cannot be pushed on foot.
• The compound has complete 360° vision.
• There's a vehicle spawn in the garage.
• Your team has control over two bridges.
• The option of sending one player to the "Wizard's Tower" (highlighted in green) east of the compound for improved vision.

You can rotate here from looting spots like North/South Georgopol, Zharki, west coast, and even Severny if you're swift enough. On a professional level, this compound will always be contested but if you solidify your position here and the zone ends around this area, the odds of winning are quite high. This compound has no weaknesses except for misplacing your own vehicles resulting in losing them, which you can prevent by putting them inside as mentioned earlier.

Adam also said that it's important to maintain a balance between long and short-range weapons when it comes to this compound. Crashing is definitely a normal occurrence but with the right weapons (preferably easy to burst with) you can counter the enemies before they even walk into your building. The 1st story of the eastern building should be inhabited by two of your four players since it's the safest spot and also gives you the most vision when you're excluding the "Wizard's Tower" to the east.

Closing words

Every compound (assuming there is one in your circle) is viable, but these five compounds are without a doubt among the best that you can currently find on Erangel. We want to thank Adam for his valuable input and for more great content in the future, stay tuned with Team Dignitas!
