We talked with Uncivil about his Top 5 Tips & Tricks when it comes to surviving in PUBG!
The one thing that could change your whole match (except for an absurd circle shift) is making it out of dangerous situations alive. There are many factors that come into play when you're talking about surviving, for example, the different scenarios that could unfold or the gear that you have gathered in a specific round.
Obviously, you need to survive to make your way to that Chicken Dinner and that's why we spoke with Timothy "Uncivil" Ebarb from the #DIGPUBG Squad and asked him about his Top 5 Survival Tips & Tricks. Uncivil has made incredible plays in the past including escaping sticky situations against three or more players. This guide has been constructed with Uncivil's professional PUBG knowledge and isn't in any particular order.
1) Map Knowledge
Uncivil: "Map knowledge is critical. It's essential to know where you are, especially if you're a solo player."
Uncivil's first tip was about map knowledge. This can be hard for the newer player, but you should try to recognize as much as possible even on the 8x8km's maps. Knowing that there's a dangerous alley around the corner that gets camped often when you're running past buildings and remembering the possible vehicle spawns around you when the circle is closing in or you are just two examples of many different scenarios where your knowledge of the map comes into play.

2) Utility
Uncivil: "Vehicles are always the #1 priority in this game, especially on Erangel! Smokes are the next most important tool for your survival: they can make or break your survival in the endgame!"
Utility plays a large role at every level of play in PUBG. These tools can be used to set up your defense or support your offense. Vehicles can be used as mobile barricades to expand your cover. For example, drive two UAZs against a tree and pop your tires (if one of the final circles is on that spot) so that they can't shoot under it and keep your distance when it's about to explode. When the UAZs are destroyed by you or your opponents, they'll become unmovable and invincible.
Smoke Grenades are quite possibly the most used grenade on a professional level, closely followed by the Frag Grenade. Smokes are so useful because they allow you to cross open areas like wheat or grass fields. Enemies will always try to shoot through it when they know you're going to use it. Against inexperienced players, you can also use it to bait enemies into shooting by sending one Squad Member through the smoke and the rest waiting for the opponents to reveal their positions.
Smoke Grenades being used to temporarily cover your movement allowing you to cross over flat terrain with no structures/objects to hide behind.
3) Trigger Discipline
Uncivil: "Trigger discipline is huge. Knowing not to shoot in some scenarios is best."
Trigger discipline is essentially waiting for the right moment to strike. Patience in Battle Royale games will pay off if the enemy hasn't spotted you since it can shift the odds in your favor rather quickly. Flanking an enemy until you've positioned yourself well enough (for example, high ground or more cover) or waiting until you can shoot at him without having to worry about the target reaching cover anytime soon.
Revealing your own position at any time can hurt you and members of your squad. Be mindful and always communicate with your teammates before opening fire. Always check your own surroundings, the area around your target, and listen to where gunshots/vehicles are coming from.
4) Taking off your backpack
Uncivil: "Taking off your backpack to reduce visibility is huge!"
Uncivil told us that this especially applies to late game, as going prone happens more often since there's less cover to play around. When you're prone, the backpack always sticks out and wiggles around when you move. Taking it off won't only help you survive longer, it may also very well secure that sought-after Chicken Dinner!
The level 3 backpack is definitely the most dangerous to go prone with. Compared to the other backpacks it has a color that'll stand out in wheat fields and the size definitely doesn't help you when it comes to hiding. Credit goes to KaerkriHD.
5) Healing in the Blue
Uncivil: "Sometimes healing in the blue is an option you have to consider when things are really rough, as well as listening for other fights to break out so you have a natural distraction and can snake your way to victory!"
Uncivil's fifth tip also requires patience. If you're stuck in the blue zone and there are enemies right in front of you, it's never a good idea to start shooting if you're alone. This tip should be combined with the third tip about trigger discipline.
There are different scenarios that can play out when you need to heal in the blue, we'll go through both of them.
• You were already in the blue zone and spot an enemy team. You can wait as long as you possibly can so that your opponents think that it's less likely of someone entering from the blue. You can either take the fight (if there are two players or he is solo) or wait for them to move and snake your way into the blue zone when the time is right.
• You were in the safe zone, but you're stuck in between two teams. If the only options are to fight or go into the blue zone temporarily, you should always decide which choice is right for your situation. You should avoid tunnel vision in these types of scenarios and try to act as quickly as possible.
Every clash between players has different conditions and the outcome won't be the same every time. That's why these 2 examples don't explain what happens in every scenario but provide a general impression of what could happen.
This concludes our Top 5 Survival Tips with Uncivil from the #DIGPUBG Squad. We want to thank Uncivil for his valuable input in the progress of making this guide and are excited to see the #DIGPUBG Squad perform in the upcoming tournaments after the Post-PGI break!
